And God said, 'Let there be light.'
Genesis 1:3-4
And there was light. And God saw that the light was good.
Genesis 1:4-5
God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light 'day', and called the darkness 'night'. And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
Genesis 1:6
Then God said, 'Let there be a vault to separate the waters from the waters.'
Genesis 1:7-8
And God made the vault, and separated the waters under the vault from the waters above the vault. And God called the vault 'sky'. And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.
Genesis 1:9
Then God said, 'Let the waters under the sky be gathered to one place, and let the dry ground appear.'
Genesis 1:10
God called the dry land 'land' and the waters that were gathered together he called 'seas'. And God saw that it was good.

And God said, 'Let the land produce seed-bearing plants and fruit-bearing trees of every kind.'
Genesis 1:11-13
And the land produced seed-bearing plants and fruit-bearing trees of every kind. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.
Genesis 1:14-15
Then God said, 'Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night. And let them be signs to mark seasons, days, and years.'
Genesis 1:15-16
And it was so: God made the greater light to rule over the day.
Genesis 1:16, 18-19
And God made the lesser light to rule the night, and the stars. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
Genesis 1:20
Then God said, 'Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.'
Genesis 1:21
And it was so—God created the great sea monsters, and creatures of every kind with which the waters swarm, and winged birds of every kind.
Genesis 1:21-23
And God saw that it was good. God blessed them, saying, 'Breed and multiply. Fill the seas. And let birds multiply on the earth.' And there was evening and there was morning—the fifth day.
Genesis 1:24
Then God said, 'Let the land produce living creatures—livestock, creeping things, and wild animals of every kind.'
Genesis 1:24-25
And it was so—God made wild animals of every kind.
Genesis 1:25
And livestock of every kind.
Genesis 1:25
And creatures that creep along the ground of every kind. And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, 'Let us make humans in our image—in our likeness. And let them rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the livestock, and all the creatures that creep along the ground.'
Genesis 1:27
And God created humans in his image. In the image of God he created them. Male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:28
God blessed them, saying, 'Breed and multiply. Fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every creature that moves on the ground.'
Genesis 1:29
And God said, 'Look! I give you every seed-bearing plant and every fruit-bearing tree on the face of the earth to be yours for food.'
Genesis 1:30
'And to all the animals of the earth, all the birds of the air, and to all the creatures that move on the ground, I give every green plant for food.'
Genesis 1:31
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.
Genesis 2:1-3
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished. And on the seventh day God rested from all the work that he had done.

Wow, this forum has long been forgotten. TS is trying to revive it. Very confusing. Sometimes want to go to "Eternal no hope" but end up at "Eternal hope." So don't blame me.

The Garden of Eden
Genesis 2:4 -3:24 with 36 illustrations
The Garden of Eden
Genesis 2:4-5
On the day Yahweh God made the earth and the heavens, no plant or shrub had yet sprung up because Yahweh God had not caused it to rain, and there was no man to work the ground.
Genesis 2:7
And Yahweh God formed man from the dirt of the ground.
Genesis 2:7
And he breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.
Genesis 2:7
And man became a living being.
Genesis 2:8-9
Yahweh God planted a garden in Eden, causing to sprout every tree that is pleasing to look at and good for food, with the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 2:15
Yahweh God took the man, and put him in the garden of Eden to look after and maintain it.
Genesis 2:16-17
Yahweh God commanded the man, 'From every tree of the garden you may freely eat, but from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, you may not eat. For the day that you eat from it you will surely die.'
Genesis 2:18
Then Yahweh God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper—his counterpart.'
Genesis 2:19
So from the dirt Yahweh God formed every animal of the field, and every bird of the sky.
Genesis 2:19-20
He brought them to the man to see what he would call them. Whatever the man called them, that was its name. But no suitable helper was found for the man.
Genesis 2:21
Then Yahweh God caused a deep sleep to fall on the man. And while he slept, he took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh in its place .
Genesis 2:22
And from the rib Yahweh God had taken from the man, he made a woman.
Genesis 2:22-23
He brought her to the man, and the man said, 'This at last is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh! She will be called woman, because she was taken out of man.'
Genesis 2:24
This is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh.
Genesis 2:25
And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.
Genesis 3:1
Now of all the animals of the field that Yahweh God had made, the snake was the most clever. He said to the woman, 'Has God really said, "You shall not eat from any tree of the garden"?'
Genesis 3:2-3
The woman said to the snake, 'We may eat from the trees of the garden, but of the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden, God said, "Do not eat from it, and do not even touch it, or else you will die."'
Genesis 3:4-5
The snake said to the woman, 'Surely you will not die! For God knows that on the day you eat from it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like gods, knowing good and evil.'
Genesis 3:6
The woman saw that the tree was good for food, pleasing to the eyes, and desirable for the knowledge it could give
Genesis 3:6
And she took fruit from it and ate it.
Genesis 3:6
She gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate it.
Genesis 3:7
Then the eyes of both them were opened, and they knew that they were naked.
Genesis 3:7
So they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves loincloths.
Genesis 3:8-9
Then they heard the sound of Yahweh God walking about in the garden in the breeze of the day. The man and his wife hid themselves from Yahweh God among the trees, and Yahweh God called to the man, 'Where are you?'
Genesis 3:10
The man said, 'I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid myself.'
Genesis 3:11
God said, 'Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?'
Genesis 3:12
The man said, 'The woman you gave me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate it.'
Genesis 3:13
And Yahweh God said to the woman, 'What have you done?'
Genesis 3:13
The woman said, 'The snake convinced me, and I ate.'
Genesis 3:14-15
Yahweh God said to the snake, 'Because you have done this, you are cursed! On your belly you shall go, and eat dirt all the days of your life. I will put hostility between you and the woman. Her offspring will strike at your head, and you will strike at her offspring's heel.'
Genesis 3:16
To the woman he said, 'I will greatly increase your suffering during childbirth. In anguish will you bring forth children. You will desire your husband, and he will dominate you.'
Genesis 3:17-19
To the man he said, 'Cursed is the ground because of you! It will yield you thorns and thistles. In painful toil will you eat from it all the days of your life until you return to the ground from which you were taken. For you are dirt, and to dirt you will return.'
Genesis 3:21
Yahweh God made leather garments for the man and his wife, and clothed them.
Genesis 3:22-23
Then Yahweh God said, 'The man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must be prevented from reaching out his hand to take from the tree of life, lest he eat from it and also live forever!'
Genesis 3:24
So he drove the man away and stationed cherubs at the east of the garden of Eden, and a whirling flaming sword to guard the way to the tree of life.
Genesis 3:23
Yahweh God sent him away from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.

And Abel, he also brought some of the firstborn of his flock, the fat ones.
Genesis 4:4
Yahweh looked with favor on Abel and his offering.
Genesis 4:5
But Yahweh did not look with favor on Cain and his offering. This was upsetting to Cain, and his face was fallen.
Genesis 4:6-7

Genesis 4:8

Genesis 4:9
And Yahweh said to Cain, 'Where is your brother Abel?'
'I don't know,' he replied.
Genesis 4:9
'Am I my brother's keeper?'
Genesis 4:10
Yahweh said, 'What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground.'
Genesis 4:11-12
'You are cursed from the ground which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood. Now when you till the ground, it will not yield its strength to you. You will be a drifter and a wanderer on the earth.'
Genesis 4:13-14
Cain said to Yahweh, 'My punishment is too great to endure. Today you have driven me from the face of the land, and from your face I will be hidden. I will be a drifter and a wanderer of the earth, and anyone who finds me will kill me.'
Genesis 4:15
Yahweh said to Cain, 'In that case, whoever kills Cain, a sevenfold vengeance will be taken on him.'

Genesis 16:2
And Abram took Sarai's advice.
Genesis 16:4
He went to Hagar, and she conceived. And once she knew she had conceived, her mistress counted for nothing in her eyes.

Sarai accordingly treated her so badly that she ran away from her.
Genesis 16:7-8
The angel of Yahweh found her by a spring in the desert, the spring on the road to Shur. He said to her, 'Hagar, slave-girl of Sarai, why have you come here, and where are you going?'
Genesis 16:8
'I am running away from my mistress Sarai,' she replied.
Genesis 16:9
The angel of Yahweh said to her, 'Go back to your mistress and submit to her.'
Genesis 16:11
Then the angel further said to her, 'Now, you have conceived and will bear a son, and you shall name him Ishmael...a wild donkey of a man he will be, his hand against every man, and every man's hand against him...'
Genesis 16:15
Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave his son born by Hagar the name Ishmael. Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael.

The Covenant
Genesis 17:1-3
When Abram was ninety-nine years old Yahweh appeared to him and said, '...I shall grant a covenant between myself and you, and make you very numerous.' And Abram bowed to the ground.
Genesis 17:4-5,8
'For my part, this is my covenant with you: you will be the father of many nations. And you are no longer to be called Abram; your name is to be Abraham...and to your descendants after you, I shall give the country where you are now immigrants, the entire land of Canaan, to own in perpetuity.'
Genesis 17:9-10
God further said to Abraham. 'You for your part must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you, generation after generation. This is my covenant which you must keep between myself and you, and your descendants after you: every one of your males must be circumcised.'
Genesis 17:11-12
'As soon as he is eight days old, every one of your males, generation after generation, must be circumcised, including slaves born within the household or bought from a foreigner not of your descent.'
Genesis 17:14
'The uncircumcised male, whose foreskin has not been circumcised - that person must be cut off from his people: he has broken my covenant.'
Genesis 17:15,18, 18:10
Furthermore God said to Abram, 'As regards your wife, you must not call her Sarai, but Sarah. Yes, your wife Sarah will bear you a son whom you must name Isaac. I shall come back to you next year, and then your wife Sarah will have a son.'
Genesis 18:10-12
Sarah was listening at the entrance of the tent behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well on in years, and Sarah had ceased to have her monthly periods. So Sarah laughed to herself, thinking, 'Now that I am past the age of childbearing and my husband is an old man, is pleasure to come my way again?'
Genesis 18:10-12
But Yahweh asked Abraham, 'Why did Sarah laugh and say, "Am I really to have a child now that I am old?" Nothing is impossible for Yahweh.'
Genesis 18:15
Sarah said, 'I did not laugh,' lying because she was afraid.
Genesis 18:15
But he replied, 'Oh, yes, you did laugh.'

Sodom and Gomorrah
Genesis 19:1
Two angels came to Sodom in the evening. Lot was sitting at the gate of Sodom.
Genesis 19:2
Lot said, 'My lords, I beg you, please come into your servant's house. Stay the night and wash your feet. Then early in the morning, you can be on your way .'
Genesis 19:2
They said, 'No, we will spend the night in the square.'
Genesis 19:3
But Lot urged them greatly, and they came in with him, entering his house.
Genesis 19:3
He made them a meal and they ate.
Genesis 19:4
But before they went to bed, the men of the city of Sodom surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every part of the city.
Genesis 19:5
They called to Lot, and said to him, 'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, so that we may have sex with them.'
Genesis 19:6-7
Lot went out the door, and shut the door behind him. He said, 'Please, my brothers, do not be evil.'
Genesis 19:8
'Look, I have two virgin daughters. Please let me bring them out to you. You may do whatever you please to them, just do not do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof.'
Genesis 19:9
'Stand back!' they said, 'This one came here as a foreigner and appoints himself a judge? Now we will deal with you worse than with them!'
Genesis 19:9-10
They pressed hard against Lot, nearly breaking down the door. But the men reached out their hands and brought Lot inside the house, and they shut the door.
Genesis 19:11-13
The men said to Lot, 'Do you have anybody else here? Whoever you have in the city, take them out of the here, for we will destroy this place. God has sent us to destroy it.'
Genesis 19:14
Lot went off and spoke to his future sons-in-law who were to marry his daughters. 'Hurry!' he said, 'Get out of this place, for Yahweh is about to destroy the city!'
Genesis 19:14
But his sons-in-law thought he was joking.
Genesis 19:15
When the morning came, then the angels hurried Lot, saying, 'Get up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away with the city's wickedness!'
Genesis 19:16
But he lingered, so the men grabbed his hand and the hands of his wife and his two daughters. They lead him out and, Yahweh being merciful to him, set him outside of the city.
Genesis 19:17
When they had taken them outside, they said, 'Run for your life! Do not look behind you, and do not stay anywhere in the plain. Flee to the mountains, or you will be destroyed!'
Genesis 19:24
Then Yahweh rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Yahweh out of the sky.
Genesis 19:25
He overthrew those cities, the whole plain -- all the inhabitants of the cities, and everything that grows on the ground.
Genesis 19:26
Behind him, Lot's wife looked back...
Genesis 19:26
...and she became a pillar of salt.

Genesis 19:33
That night they made their father drunk.
Genesis 19:33
And the elder slept with her father though he was unaware of her coming to bed or her leaving.
Genesis 19:34
The next day the elder said to the younger, 'Last night, I was the one who slept with our father. Let us make him drunk again tonight, and you go sleep with him. In this way we can preserve the race by our father.'
Genesis 19:35
They made their father drunk that night too.

And the younger went and slept with him, though he was unaware of her coming to bed or leaving.
