If the WP garnered another 6% votes the last election, she probably would be unheard of.

Now that's just plain mean, at least say no thanks.

Oh. Thats what I said when I got approached.
Another case. This was my reply
"If you want to be a christian, ask GOD to come and speak to me directly.

When you have encountered so many salesman and promoters everywhere everyday, you will do the same lol.

I have my own protocols to follow when dealing with the public.

muahahaha i was just thinking of credit card promoter in MRT stations n shopping malls whilst reading TS's post. to evade the promoter's pursuit, some people actually fake by saying they already own the credit card when posed the question by the promoter. to evade evangelists, errr maybe we can adopt same tactic ?

My newest tactic is to ask them how I could file for bankruptcy.

i wld like to see an evangelist being arrested for harassment. the court shld send deterrent message so that evangelists will curb their activity.

no need to lie. just tell them straight, no, or no thank you or just continue walking and shake your head. they will take your message. to me, if you dun want to say anything, just shake your head, its the same equilavent as no in body language speak.

The Government can also influence religious practice through the Maintenance of Religious Harmony Act. The act was passed in 1990 and revised in 2001 in response to actions that the Government viewed as threats to religious harmony. This includes aggressive and "insensitive" proselytizing and "the mixing of religion and politics." The act established the Presidential Council on Religious Harmony, which reports to the Minister of Home Affairs and is empowered to issue restraining orders against leaders and members of religious groups to prevent them from carrying out political activities, "exciting disaffection against" the Government, creating "ill will" between religious groups, or carrying out subversive activities. These orders place individuals on notice that they should not repeat such acts; contravening a restraining order can result in fines of up to $6,622 (SGD 10,000) and up to two years' imprisonment for a first offense. The act also prohibits judicial review of its enforcement or of any possible denial of rights arising from it.
Opps sorry wall of text
but like rooney said, there have been people who were arrested for this...mostly because they 'said stuff' about other religions.

that one is sedition, right ? unlawful publication provoking religious sentiments. this year or last year, forgot liao..
there shld be a govt watchdog for us to report ppl harassing or unwanted evangelism. i like to report my relative ! she's not christian but of another group. she's much more persistent than the christian evangelists i hv met.
Wow... nowadays still have such extremists ah.
I thought it only exists when I was young, when my parents had to pull me away when those extremists surround me as if they gonna kidnap me at Marina Bay MRT Station when I was about 10 years old.
Seriously, I feel that those extremists should stop forcing people to join their religion in public. They are making themselves a nuisance, and also reflecting their religion badly to the public.

You think he can win me if he try to beat me up?

thanks bonkers for the info. all the more, Rony Tan was let off very lightly by ISD, really incredible and unbelievable isnt it. isnt it seditious enough for Rony Tan to be charged and prosecuted to jail?

so what did the guy do when you told him like this? he walked away or what?

You can try a softer approach. Ris low approach.
"I believe in myself. ITS ALL ABOUT ME!"
