Just got back from a spot of post-Christmas shopping, and picked up the following from Wal*Mart:
Christmas and seasonal items were 50% off, so I managed to snag the 12 oz. tins of Kjeldsen's Danish Butter Cookies for $1.25 apiece. I might have to make another run to Wal*Mart later today to see if they have any left.
$1.25 !!! dammit, maybe i should go to wal mart to check it out too. im sure it's not that cheap in canada.
wow.......that is good price. But the bottom shelve of my frig is full of the following items
3 boxes of See's cand. different selection
1 tray of berry crisp
1 christmas fruit cake
1 box of christmas cookies n cranberry cookies
no wonder folks in the US are bigger in size.
saw it at some chinese grocery store a few days ago. going for C$9.99
someone gave my grandma a huge box for xmas...my sis and i were hoping that she wouldn't want it. she kept it.
Errmm....why are you guys so loving to those butter cookies?
I dont understand it. I remember seeing a huge tin of it at someones home, took 3 cookies and I stopped?
So why errr.....are you folks loviing it so much?
Todays breakfast:
2 pieces of buttered sweet hawaiian bread sandwiching a piece of bak gua.

Can't speak for the others here, but I like them because they are genuine Danish butter cookies made by Kjeldsen's in Denmark, and taste far, far better than the other so-called "Danish" cookies made in the US or (ugh!) China.
And you can't beat the price of $1.25 per 12 oz. tin!
Perhaps the ones you tried were the Chinese knock-offs that taste like chalk.
No no.....I remember Real danish cookies from my child years. But not touch any made in China or Malaysia now in sg or here.
And yes, its cheap and I must say the tins are pretty.
Me not just a cookie fan I think.
Unless its a biscuit wrapping a durian cream wafer. Or those Soda Biscuits with milo.....or the marie biscuits.....
I was good - didn't succumb to any post-Xmas temptations. Why? Because we decided to go skiing. Big Mistake. Equipment rental x 4 = $181. Ski apparel $100. Lift tickets x 4 = $244. 300 mile round trip with gas at $1.70. We are broke beyond belief.

Don't feel bad about that. You might be broke now, but you've done your part to help kick-start the languid economy with all that spending on the ski trip!
(I've done my part to help the economy too--bought a couple of new guns as X'mas gifts to myself...)
My request to buy a few handguns for personal protection in Phuket Thailand was veto down.
They didnt say anything about me keeping a few choppers handy to chop off any guys that will dare to go after my teenage half sister though.

As for the baking, I'm going to make dutch apple pie as well as pumpkin pie. I've been too lazy to snap pics of my baking for a long time now. But since you asked me nice, I may do it just for you.
i'm still waiting for your peektures, my dear. ;-)
