  Phew~~~ now that I've kinda recuperated, here's an account of last weekend's Christmas dinner that I hosted.  Here's waiting for my guests to arrive.

  Finally, guests arrived le.  Before they dig in, a little warm up by playing "pass the plate".  Like musical chairs, once the music stops, they stop too.  Then, flip the plate over and see if they are a winner.  Pai seh, only ONE winner. :P

  Assam Shrimps

  

  Snow pea shoots in braised dried scallop and top shell

  

  Babi Hong

  

  Baked Salmon in Salsa

  

  Braised chicken/mushroom in wine

  

  and finally, there was Satay Chicken but I overlooked to take pic. :(

  Although I specify in my invitation "no gifts", my friends still brought me gifts.  Next time, I'm gonna ask them to donate to their favourite charity.

  

  Didn't take pictures of desserts but here's what my friends brought:

  Durian cake.  She gave me THREE and it's so out of this world.  I just love it love it love it.

  

  and then there were butter tarts.  raisins with rum and the other nutty one is pecan.  As far as I am concerned, this friend makes the best butter tarts!!! :)  Love it love it love it~~~~

  

  This is what of remains of the durian puffs.  Also awesome.  Love it love it love it

  

  There were jellies, a huge fruit platter, almond squares, and I served pineapple fruit cake - all these....overlook to take pictures.  I got lazy and with the failure of my kueh lapis, my back up plan was to buy cookies from a specialty store.

  We played human musical chairs but alamak.....the wives beri pai seh to sit on the laps of other husbands leh.  One or two actually just stand in front of the guy when the music stopped.  kakakka...  Anyways, you can guess that the eventual winner is a husband and wife team.

  Then we had more passing of the parcel with prizes to be won and forfeits to be done.

  The challenge of the night has to be charades.  This guy was stuck at his charade that I thought we gonna be doing this all nite. :P

  Then, we had dancing, some ballroom, some latin and some freestyling.  For a start, we formed a circle and each of us took turn to perform in the centre of the circle.

  Finally, karaoke for the nite.  But if things has to go wrong, it will go wrong.  Our sound system malfunctioned although it had been tested the nite before.  Oh well.

  It was a wonderful night.  Great company, great food and thank God for good weather to allow the party to happen.

  heh heh....yah, got to start early 'cos we kinda take turns to host eh.  after all these makan sessions, it will be veggie diet for a while.  come to think of it, it's not the meal that "kills" us, it's the desserts.  big time damage to the body! lol

  thanks, fairlady....we had fun.  i was worried the weather wasn't going to cooperate 'cos we had a snow storm earlier.  but thank God, really.  it was a really nice day. :)

  So far so good lah, but $$$ is running out fast.  Its not cheap travelling and living in USA leh. S$ conver to US$ is pathetic!

   

  I was planning for Christmas with another old fren from Singapore at New Orleans, but the flight ticks like so expensive!  And it looks set that my nephew and neice will be spending at least a Christmas eve or day at their granparents and then we go skiing on the other days.

   

  See how, feel like doing sky jump again, but I need the $$$ for diving at Hawaii.  Or neither, since the $$$ is running out faster then expected.

  As for the baking, I'm going to make dutch apple pie as well as pumpkin pie. I've been too lazy to snap pics of my baking for a long time now.  But since you asked me nice, I may do it just for you.
