Indeed I have! The original Tacoma Narrows bridge was brought down by wind gusts back in the thirties, when winds blowing through the narrows were just at the right speed to cause the bridge deck to oscillate at its resonant frequency, resulting in the deck failing and collapsing.Originally posted by jetta:MG
Have you ever seen on tv, pics of a bridge undulating in gusty winds? That was the Tacoma Narrows bridge, also known as Galloping Gertie.
Nice shots! I thoroughly enjoyed viewing them all. Thanks for sharing, can't wait to see anymore you care to share.
Quite possibly again before the end of the year. I think I've fallen in love with that city.Originally posted by jetta:MG, I loved viewing them all. Thank you so much for letting us "accompany" you on your trip. So when will you be visiting Seattle again?
For more things Washingtonian, try this link www.madeinwashington.com From salmon, to coffee, to fresh cut tulips to souvenirs. Try the Pullayup scone mix. Speaking of Pullayap, the county fair's in Sept. and they serve scones by the thousands there. You'll also get to sample the sweet Walla Walla onions which I love love love. If you want to see all things Naval, go in August for the week long Sea Fair. There are parades, hydroplane races and more. Also, you must, must, must visit Mt St Helens park. Blows the mind away.Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:Quite possibly again before the end of the year. I think I've fallen in love with that city.
Now that I'm slightly more familiar with the lay of the land there, I might incorporate a drive around the Olympic National Park; we wanted to do that on this trip, but severely underestimated the distance involved.
Gotta find a Seattle skyline poster for the office cube now...

And if you have the time, you can drive down to Oregon to a town called Seaside. Super scenic coast and if you remember the Goonies movie, this was where it was filmed.
I'll be moving there by the end of the year. See you then?
