Patrick Holford, founder of the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION), has announced that both raspberries and strawberries can increase your sex-drive. Here’s the science bit, concentrate!
It appears that Zinc is the culprit for this; being, as it is, the nutrient most associated with sex. It governs levels of testosterone in the body, which is required for sperm production. And, as a man can deplete his entire Zinc supply if he has sex three times within 24 hours, it is an extremely important nutrient to consider if you are planning a prolonged sex session. Not only this, but a woman’s body will prepare itself for sex more quickly if her Zinc levels are high.
ON is a London-based charity established in 1984 to study and conduct research into nutrition, whose research areas now include any aspect of nutritious foods and healthy eating. Of the research, Holford said: “my message is simple: every time you have sex, or simply want to ready yourself or your partner for sex you should consume a handful of raspberries or strawberries. It’s not just the Zinc content of the berries which is beneficial in the bedroom. They are incredibly high in anti-oxidants which help to optimise blood flow to the sex organs.”
