The 2016 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE AIRLINES SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX returns to Singapore from 16 to 18 September 2016.
Race organisers have made arrangements to ensure minimal traffic disruptions and improve accessibility to allow members of the public to carry on their normal daily activities in the Marina Centre area while enjoying the race excitement.
Similar to the past years, road closures will take place over only six days, a reduction from twelve days at the first 2008 race.
Affected roads will be closed from 12.01am, 14 September (Wednesday) to facilitate the set-up of race infrastructure. Affected roads will reopen progressively when the race is completed with all roads fully accessible by 5.30am, 20 September (Tuesday).
To facilitate better traffic access, race organisers have made arrangements to re-open roads early after the race. Taxis will be allowed entry to the Marina Centre area at all times, except during F1 race times. Race goers can also have the convenience of using the MRT with the extension of operating hours of public transport services.
To facilitate morning and evening peaks, the following road corridors will be opened at selected hours during the road closure period:
Members of the public are encouraged to use the public transport during the road closure period. For those who wish to drive, they can access the developments and shopping centres in the Marina Centre area through a single-lane road from Nicoll Highway and Temasek Boulevard at the following times (except for buses and vehicles with W, X, Y plates):
Taxis will also be able to use the single-lane access at all times, except during the hours when the race is ongoing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Besides the single-lane road, motorists can also enter Marina Centre area via Temasek Boulevard from Rochor Road (after exiting ECP) throughout the day.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, traffic wardens will be deployed on site to direct traffic and assist the public. Road information and directional signs will also be put up in the vicinity to direct motorists.
Car parks at Suntec City, Millenia Singapore and Marina Square remain open to public subject to availability.

During the race days (16 – 18 September), operating hours of MRT train services will be extended to cope with the higher demand. The operating hours for selected feeder bus services will also be extended to match the last train services.
Free shuttle buses are also available between Lavender MRT station and Gate 1 of the race venue.
Ticket holders are encouraged to make use of public transport during race days to get to the race venue as most gates are within walking distance to an MRT station. Taxis are also available as an additional option.
