Venue: Marina Bay
Laps: 61
Race start: 2000HRS
After the three men who conspired to allow Fernando Alonso to win last year's race were sacked and banned, we return to the scene of the crime this weekend. The dust is just beginning to settle down and we can focus on the track action once again.
This year, the pitlane entrance and exit have been redesigned, and Singapore Sling chicane and Turn 14 have been made tighter in order to improve safety and overtaking. Free practice will begin at 6pm on Friday, and at 7pm on Saturday.
Although the lap distance is not particularly long, the track consists of many slow corners especially in the third sector. Expect average lap times to hover around the 1:45 mark. Maximum downforce is the order of the day and some parts of the track may remain bumpy in spite of resurfacing efforts.
A number of teams have brought updates for the first of the flyaway races that close the 2009 season, including BMW and McLaren. Red Bull are expected to struggle again and this will see the championship reduced to a two-horse race within the Brawn team. Kimi Raikkonen however is the man in form as he has amassed 30 out of 40 points in the last 4 races.
Whether you choose to follow the race at trackside or on TV, enjoy!
Renault title sponsor ING has terminated its deal with the French car manufacturer with immediate effect on the back of the team being found guilty of fixing last year's Singapore Grand Prix.
Just days after Renault was handed a two-year suspended ban for its involvement in causing a crash in Singapore 12 months ago to help Fernando Alonso win, ING dropped a bombshell in the early hours of Friday morning when it announced it was ending its involvement in the team immediately.
A statement issued by ING confirmed that it had chosen to pull its sponsorship deal because of the events of the last week.
"ING announced today that in light of the verdict of the World Motor Sport Council of 21 September 2009 concerning the events that occurred at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, ING will terminate the contract with Renault Formula 1 with immediate effect," said the statement.
"ING is deeply disappointed at this turn of events, especially in the context of an otherwise successful sponsorship. As announced on 16 February of this year, ING decided not to renew the three year sponsorship (2007-2009) contract with Renault F1 and to end its presence in Formula 1 after the 2009 season."
A spokesperson for the Dutch banking giants confirmed to AUTOSPORT that the decision will result in the ING logos being removed from the cars and other team areas.
However she stated that ING's commitment to trackside advertising would remain until the end of the year.
ING's decision comes hours after Spanish insurance company Mutua Madrilena announced that it was also ending its Renault sponsorship deal as it felt the team's involving in the race fixing scandal amounted to a breach of contract.
Seems like there is more media publicity for the F1 Rocks concerts than the actual race itself.

My best driver of the day is Fernando Alonso. He was always able to get the maximum out of his car and it was no surprise that we see such a huge time gap between himself and his team mate.
There are rumours Alonso will leave renault but i hope he will join ferrari. Massa and Alonso can haf a decent fight for the championship next year (provided they get their car right!)

Grosjean had brake issues all weekend, but Alonso is indeed a special driver. One of the Renault team members blurted out by accident that he'll be missed by the team.
yeh alonso is special.
he can turn a normal f1 car into a podium contending car, thats how good he is.
