Its a different think i guess even though British American Racing is part of BATOriginally posted by iveco:I've been wondering what would happen to BAR-Honda after the EU ban on tobacco advertising kicks in from 2006 onwards. AFAIK, the BAR-Honda team is a subsidiary of British American Tobacco (maker of Lucky Strike ciggies). Will BAT be forced to spin off the racing outfit to Honda's control?
In an unprecedented step, British American Tobacco (BAT) even established its own Formula One racing team, British American Racing, in 1999. This was a new development in the relationship between motor sports and TTCs in that the team was named after the sponsor, rather than the car manufacturer in contrast to, say, the Ferrari team which is also sponsored by a tobacco company.
