Sentosa is a large playground with dirty beaches for the rich people living there.
We have 60+ other islands, all surrounded by the same silty water but some are more serene and still accessible, like St John's and Ubin.

Here's something to chew on later today. We claim to be a tourist-friendly place to do business, and yet our proficiency in English lags behind 11 countries where it isn't the 1st language. Few of us can claim to be fluent in both English and our 2nd language.

Just now while I was at the train station (Tanah Merah), a train came. I didn't board it because I knew from experience that the next one would be an empty train from the depot.
One fella ran on the platform, pushed me from behind...... and didn't board the current train.
KNN..... you want to rush for the train, you push people. Want to wait for the next train, you also push people?
To his credit, he looked away sheepishly when I gave him my Ultimate Stare of Death.

I wish some people would stop treating me like the tech wizkid that I'm not. They expect me to miraculously know what's wrong with their computer or printer which I've never seen before. If they did the same probing, research and deduction that I do they'd learn something and stop being so dependent on others for help.

I can identify with that.
There are people who would not go the extra mile in doing their homework, but rather rely on their "networks" to get their shit cleaned.
On the other hand, when they do get potentially useful information, they would not hesitate to tell you, even if its middle of the night.
Don't know about you guys, but I am someone who needs a lot of space, so I don't really like all that.

There are some who might argue on "being more efficient". It is faster by asking a pro (though whether the person being ask is a pro or not, is a different issue) and more likely to be correct.
Don't know about you guys, but I am someone who needs a lot of space, so I don't really like all that.
I value networks of information and expertise to get information, opinions, suggestions, ideas, resources, fast and accurate. One might call it "using" in a bad term, but we call it leveraging... After all, we do provide input shld the other parties requires...
There are things like tacit knowledge which is rather unobtainable by self reading/research/deduction and there are those which comes with experience... Besides, different perspective might be good...

But I should have been more elaborate on what I meant.
Take assignments for example:
Asking for help at every single turn is just ridiculous.
And emails:
Need me to check MY email and tell you whatever that's happening?
I do ask for help, but I make it clear that I am asking for a favour.
I am not EXPECTING help.

stupid mother was dressed in pink and had those scary "cutesy" makeup favoured by the deranged pink people in Tokyo.. with lots of hellspawn kitteh crap.. pushing a hellish kitteh pram with a baby in it dressed in hell kitteh clothes.. both sporting the horror kitteh bow on their heads...
the husband was with them and he looked kinda deranged...
i foresee decades of therapy for the child...
