The Keynesian's Paradox of Thrift.
But if we look at neoclassical economics, saving is good, because saving in banks => more to invest.
And leading simple life => less likely to get boom-bust economy.
Ultimately of course, all these are views, with interesting applications, but we should know what we should do as individuals and for others around us.
keynesian, adam smith, reaganomics, bullshitism... whatever...
i should start a new economic movement called "common horse sense-ism"
it starts with "don't fukken spend what you don't have"

x2.
Nothing's more valuable than common sense.
But sometimes the common sense also leads to problems.
Some of the models I looked at were pretty interesting.
Self-fulfilling prophecies (you wait for me I wait for you), bank runs which occurs even with common sense (even healthy banks fall) etc etc.
These are things economics really look at.
Not GDP. Sustainable economic growth is more important and other measures that measure human capital is the current focus.
The MIW gives a bad name to this discipline and then word had it LKY chastised the Sociology department for lampooning his economics view and its impact on society.
Sigh....phone spoilt again thanks to SIM card.
Thankfully this time no need pay $$$ but the trip to town and the distress is enough, thank you.
And not to mention making ANOTHER trip to replace SIM card. Damn you SIM card.

Its the SIM card.
It corrupted my phone once, and then upon repair, happily put SIM card in and when the same nonsense happened, SE and I came to the same realisation......a tad too late.
Thankfully I was assured changing the SIM card will do the trick since there doesnt seem to be lasting damage. But if I insert the new one and the phone acts up....
This election is pretty like first time view of an election to the tiongs

I just received my election card last night.
Apparently, even though I changed my official address to Tanah Merah a few months ago, they're still making me vote for Marine Parade GRC (i.e. my previous address).
Meanwhile, FS (who is under the Tanah Merah address) will be voting for East Coast GRC.
Amazingness.
Oh well. At least Marine Parade seems a bit more clear cut. Straight fight between the Nicole Seah and the (un)holy Goh.

Actually I think GCT has his wings clipped. Ever since he stepped down he has aged tremendously. He's also now the bearer of bad news.
My East Coast GRC is more interesting I think

Well, if you've ever lived in Marine Parade, then you'd know that the residents there would stick to him through thick and thin. And for good reason - there's no denying that marine Parade is a very well-maintained and well-connected estate without the chaos of Tampines or the ulu-ness of Punggol.
He has his flaws, but at least he seems to be far less of a clown than, say, Mah Bow Tan or Raymond Lim. And being the bearer of bad news is one thing, but I'm sure that at least enough people would know that shooting the messenger gets you nothing.
To be sure, I'm not at all impressed by Tin Pei Ling. However, I'm even less impressed by Nicole Seah. Watching her rally last night on Youtube, she strikes me as more of a political activist than a true politician. I just can't shake off my perception of her as 'the little girl who tries too hard to talk big'. She seems to be more suited for holding a placard outside a G8 meeting than a seat inside Parliament.

Nicole Seah reminds me a little of Sarah Palin
All looks no substance
Some of my guy friends literally acted like in her fan club thingy, almost promoting her everyday on fb.......I wonder are the statements that she made ...powerful or is it...erh..??? hmm....
if u ask me abt Hougang, the older votes might still go w/ hammer.
But can't be said for young ones since LTK leaves.
I think the gerrymandering is a trap
morning folks
......like a pretty scapegoat waiting to be slaughtered and served to diety...:D
Ms Seah, who is a candidate for Marine Parade GRC, said: "Since when did public housing become so expensive? Now couples are settling down at a later age because they do not want the burden of the huge debt to pay off their houses. Public housing indeed. - from CNA
boy, she does sound very grumbly... oh common, give us the proposed solution and tell us what you can do !.. ..Dun just keep adding oil over this and moans over it... and we all know this fact long time ago...!
LF, the opp still can't checkmate MBT
cos the pointers they used could be easily made politically wrong
