I remember the time they printed out a $1 coupon for the BK Tendergrill. The queue at Burger King at NUS on that day was hilariously long.
These so-called promotions are just marketing gimmicks designed to make customers who were not even considering going to BK or Texas Chicken to go there.
Odds are that those customers would buy other things on top of the $1 burger..... and most of them would. No point queueing up so long just for one single burger, no?
These promotions would only benefit those who were already planning to go the restaurant before there even was a promotion. For everyone else who got sucked in, it's the restaurant that benefits. Whatever loss in profits they experienced by selling the cheap burger would be more than made up by the sheer volume of customers.
Anyway, considering the fact that the BK at NUS is at the Arts and Social Sciences faculty, a good number of people who were queueing up were Economics, Sociology, and Psychology majors.
What are the odds of them actually applying their studies to the act of queueing up at BK?

and that is during normal operations...
now with this 95¢ thing, i wager they'll just put some swill in it
Well I did a review on texas chicken...
The chicken taste almost as good as KFC but becoz tat day it's new and turnover is fast... Food is hot and freshly done... Imagine if the turnover rate is slow, meaning KFC will be better...

When food outlets have 'crazy promotions' like this, I avoid them like the plague.
Simply because:
1. Waste of time queueing up.
2. Time is money. The opportunity cost of queueing up is doing real, valuable work that would make me money.
Even faceplanting into my desk would be a better use of my time, since it would improve my productivity later on.
3. When stock runs out, everyone gets pissed. No point being in the middle of a crowd with lots of negative emotions. It's bad for my health.
4. I know that if I don't really want it, then I'm really not benefitting myself.
Anyway, I enjoy being the mechanical engineer who laughs at economics/ sociology/ psychology morons who don't apply what they have learnt.

Arnold is nice though like Acid it's over 10 years ago since I last had it
Seriously it's near Zora's place you should just pop by sometime to try. At that time they served a mighty good ice kachang at their outlet too.
The thing about fast food places is that they pressure cook before frying their chicken so it becomes kinda mushy and the flesh doesn't seem as firm. Last I remember, they don't do that at Arnold's.
maybe i'll drop in..
i'm a slow-food kinda guy
Well it was more than 10 yrs ago. I should go there to try again
But I am not a huge fried chicken fan so unless I have a major craving, I doubt it
tat char kway teow stall is it open in the 'daytime' only?

See this is the thing I cannot understand
If they spend 1 hour queuing up to spend $1 to buy a burger, they might as well work for BK . Assuming they can work for only an hour, they will be paid $4 and if I'm not wrong, BK provides free lunch/dinner for their staff so they can get more than a burger for free and get paid for it
I realised NTUC Xtra begins selling tat ROC bowl noodle 满汉大 (Big Meal) eel varient.

i tried explaining this to my dad many times.. he'd look everywhere and over a few days to find something which is slightly cheaper...
nevermind the petrol, parking and all that, plus the time wasted..
i was scolded many times so i let him be..
he started to realise the concept of "economic cost" of his "looking around" only not too long ago...
It's just like ppl go JB to shop and pump petrol...

The thing is that people don't realise there is an economic cost & opportunity cost of looking around
Unless it's for a big ticket item, it's really not worth the time and effort
yeah.. but hey.. the marketing people prey on these people..
$1 crappy burgers to pile the people in!
e marketing strategy is gia si lang these days
Who saw e Milo 3in1 use cold water one?
