if it makes you feel any better, agriculture too kills many animals and fucks up the natural environment pretty badly.go look it up.
short of buying meat and produce directly from small family owned farms, all of us are contributing to animal cruelty regardless of dietary practices.
This is what happens when food production is industrialised, when we are detached from the process of rearing our own food, and when farm and abbatoir workers are far removed from the people they feed. It's also why we have so many disease outbreaks.
Going vegan isn't the solution if you look at the practices of monoculture and companies like Monsanto. Besides, I don't believe that predators kill their prey painlessly in the wild. Pain is a necessary part in the slaughter of meat (but not in the rearing process), but we need to raise animals in sanitary conditions and stop buying diseased meat produced in wasteful systems. Choosing free range produce raised on proper food and small farms will help like, what AV says.
