it's legal tender..
torn or not, as long as the whole thing is there, the bank must accept it.. then it's up to them to send the thing to MAS
and MAS must accept it too

but ah bear ah... I had a problem of same sort while working few years ago... The bank rejected the note, stated that they couldn't accept a torn note... But in my case, the poor staff had accepted a torn $1000 note, meaning there's only half of it, the other half was missing...
I do not know if FS had 2 half note or only 1 side of the halves...

Oh my bad... I think i made a mistake...
I dunno wat's wrong with me... I was just complaining to tare tat I was cutting my nails just now... But it was after sometime then I notice I didn't cut the nails on my forth finger on my right hand... -____-
Recently, my thinking has been getting slower and slower... -___- and I just had 2 long weekends...

i guess it is usual in Singapore where everything is thrown at us and the people who run the place refuse to be responsible for anything

It'll be hard to prove that it came from their cashier now, wouldn't it? Personally, I wouldn't be too fussed. The store still gave it out precisely because it can be used, it'd just be nice if they took on the burden of keeping and mending it.
