  Well, it has been a known fact that these ‘FTs’ go around groping women during countdowns EVERY YEAR

  And it’s always been a particular race of FTs getting caught doing that

  It’s in the papers every single year so I think people should know that and do something and protect themselves

  Not if they do not know how to take precautions and go in the right company. They know the situation and chose to get drunk in it. How dumb can you be to not know the likely consequence? As I said what the guys did (assuming the girl was unwilling) was not right, but the girl needs to think things through too.

  It applies for males too btw, you don't go get yourself plaster and just pass out on the street. And then expect that no one takes your money or maybe kick you.

  Even in Oz and USA. Girl gets drunk and gets sexually assaulted

  In the ideal world things like these don’t happen

  But they do. All around the world. As a female you really have to be aware of your surroundings and not do things that put you in the situation of getting taken advantage of.

  I would say being drunk, in a crowded rowdy place in a bikini is not a good idea. Not everyone is a gentlemen, especially when you have sexually repressed ‘FTs’ around.

  My fren showed me a clip on his facebook, about some man going into a fastfood store and bashing up a female pregnant manager while everyone looks... her staff dun even do anything... it's in taiwan i think...

  of course, in an ideal world these things don't happen. You know what's the difference between Singapore and the frozen shithole I left behind ?

  In Singapore there are no ghettos were one fears to tread after dark, there are no streets where you know you'll get robbed or run into addicts or dealers or get your car stereo stolen, there are no night clubs where you know for sure you'd witness a fight before closing ..... people tells you to avoid this or that neighbourhood, and such boundaries become part of your consiousness, you feel hemmed in.

  some people just write it off as being street smart or city survival, I call it surrendering away your community and your society. Cos the people behind such crimes and behaviour are not going to respect your "boundaries" just because you recognize and respect the boundaries and dangers they represent. The drug dealers would move from the bus stop and street corners into the schools, the burglers and street toughs would start hassling nearer and nearer to your home. And you'd have bricked yourself in.

  The girl was indeed a bit silly to have let herself go without proper chaperones who could have looked after her, but to say that it's basically her own fault, is to surrender your society's space to such forces, Just because countdown parties are hotbeds for bangla molesters, we should be forced to stay away from a bit of new year fun ? Or should we take a stand and clamp down on such pricks ? Would you want to see your daughter live like an inmate of a saudi arabian cloister, not able to have a bit of fun outside without having to worry about being groped by a bangla ?
