Just got home. After tackling with my experimental apparatus just now, I asked a lab techie for help.
He laughed uproariously and said that there had to be a simple reason for having data for one channel appear on another channel. But even he couldn't find the source of the problem.
In the the end, the problem was solved by replacing one of the connecting wires..... but we're both still dumbfounded as to how the problem could have arose.
Like I said..... it's like turning the ignition in your own car, only to have your neighbour's car start up!
