I dreamt that a forumer chased me around with a dripping mop last night ... telling me to get out of her house .....
what a screwed up night ... capped by a screwed up morning with a quarrel with my folks over my execution method for a mouse we caught in a trap last night in the backyard ....

I wanted to give it a peaceful and painless death by dumping it into the freezer ! ...
the poor mouse can't help being a mouse, he drew the short straw when it was time for him to reincarnate ... I don't think drowning him in a tub of water is the way for him to go ....

it isn't that peaceful or painless..imagine yourself struggling to survive hypothermia.. and fighting with every fibre of your being until you lapse into a semi-comatose state where you are aware yet unable to move.. then slowly, still in a conscious state, you slowly lose that as you slip away but still fighting...
it may take hours..

That is so utterly unhygienic!! 
Your entire family may end up with some kinda nasty food poisoning when you guys later cook some of the food that's been in the same freezer with the rat!! Did you not think of that?!!! -

I don't think they can hiberate at such short notice, and they're not like crabs, insects or other cold-blooded creatures that fall asleep when it gets too cold.

I read it somewhere that it's the most human and painless way to dispatch an animal .... the cold will numb the brain and sleep will come first, then the body shuts down ....
that's how I kill crabs too ... dump it into the freezer, half an hour later, they've all moved on .....
I still think it's more humane than the sheer terror of drowning ....

and I put the trap into a plastic bag first before tossing it into the freezer ....
why are people so prone to knee jerk reactions over such things ? ....
it was staring at me pitifully .... I'd have let it go if I could, but the body's stuck onto the sticky board liao ... so I figured it's better I kill the mouse humanely than let my folks drown it ....
I said some buddhist prayers for the poor mouse before I shut the freezer lid ... when you're dispatching some hapless critter, buddhism is more comforting ... you can reassure yourself that the poor critter has a chance at rebirth to a better existence ....

I timed the death ... 15 minutes later, it's gone to mice heaven ....

a rat is not a crab...anyway, fastest way to despatch a crab is to rip off the shell and chop it into two..
