When my grandmother was still alive, every CNY morning, we'd have to go to her home on an empty stomach to have the first meal of the day...
Then after she passed away, I tried to maintain that tradition by eating mantous for breakfast. =X

Strange... where is 'home' for you? The Singapore that you consider 'home' may have changed so much that you may no longer feel an affinity for it anymore once you're 'home'. Then you'll realise that 'home' is really wherever your loved ones are.
Think my parents insisted it's pantang to say anything negative on CNY. I kena slapped on the mouth a few times when I was younger cause, couldn't help it, very opinionated from a young age.
The usual sweeping thingy; all lights on before New Year; a flower bath to wash away the bad luck in the morning...no black clothes

A very pretty model friend tells me.....not to wear red for CNY.
My mother pass me a book to subtly tell me to go find green eyeshadow for the CNY.
Lat time at old old masionette in Tampines, cannot sweep the urn's ashes that fell down the main door. Urn was hung at the main door.
Must have some fish meat leftover from CNY eve dinner to signify Year year got fish.
Other than the sweeping/hoovering thing, we heck care.
