  When u only serve yourself, you are simply a selfish individual. Selfish individuals rarely achieve much, simply because they are not willing to step out of their own comfortable zone to risk what they have because they are not able to see how actions can benefit a larger good.
  
  Because of this, the lack of impetus to actually TAKE action is not there. Compared to someone who realise that a single action from him, may ripple out to cause a much further bigger benefit to the rest of his fellowmen. Serving people MORE than yourself can be empowering in this sense. Becos you act because you believe that your actions have effect beyond yourself, and not simply becos only u benefit by them.

  I never denied there being pple who list being concerned about others and larger good or god as soe or one of their priorities. and obviously as others we prefer a person who is concerned abotu others. I merely pointed out that it was still self-interest.

  the more you put energy and time and efforts into your cuase, the more "risk" is put to your other priorities due to lack of management.effort into those areas. I'm not talking just about being in danger or jail or such.

  nah i never expect everyone to do so. Not everyone has the passion to love life enough to do it.
  
  But for these people to spend so much time on complaining and whining and not on the real acts of 'contribution' i find it hypocritical and self absorbed.
  
  It creates a negative atmosphere, makes people fearful and suspicious all for nothing.
  
  It detracts onlookers from real deeds of 'valour', from the people who HAVE been contributing but don't like to blow their own trumpet. If you look out there, there are so many Singaporeans who are quietly working to benefit others. why is it worth it for them? It's because the energy and time and effort they put in the cause put meaning in their life.
  
  And here we have a bunch of people who complain abt insignificant things when really we have much better and bigger problems to worry about. The truly important things get drowned out by the 'mosquito buzzing'.

  I see what you are getting at. I think the main problem is not that they whine and complain. its that alot of them are pretty idiotic i their complains(points to UN thread).
  
  I don't htink they just complaining and whining is a bad thing on its own. they may not be contributing actual deeds, but at east theya re still doing somethign and it may be sort publicity and draws attention of others to errors and bad points.

  carry food means when you drive there unload from your car? If so i don't think will be a problem. I'll help if I'm there already.
