all a matter of perception. I'll admit i don't feel overwhelming patriotism for the country. I'm good as long as its well run and good for me to live in. I don't feel its a big deal for them to ahve to change the leaders or the name or maybe merge. as long as the country's and the pple's interest arebeing considered well. not like just because the coutnry has sovereignty the rulers will be deciding for hte good of others.Originally posted by the Bear:it comes down to this thing:
how much is your country worth to you?
in matters of MY COUNTRY.. there is no "what's in it for me?"
it is my country... and i'll be damned if anyone wh0res it out...
do you even understand this?
they don't.. yet they say they are 'doing this for the country'
people die for their country.. people die for the sovereignty of their country... and some look at their country in terms of 'how much can i screw out of the country?'
everything every one does is about serving their own interests. be your interest be in mankind or your own needs.Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:snort what does this mean?
It means they are too concerned about their own individual well being to risk themselves about what they claim to be SOOOO important to them.
In the end, it is all about self serving interests isn't it?

you might be concerned abotu the country, but it doesn't mean you will be willing to risk your well-being for it.
home and country is different. your home consists of your friends, colleagues, family and frame work yu live in. if something changes out side of it, even if its to your country, the home is still there. and i guess changes occur inevitably anywayOriginally posted by the Bear:i guess you'll never ever find a place to call home..

if you act for your ideals, you are still acting on your interest in those ideals.Originally posted by the Bear:some would... and do...
some do not think of self-interests.. some have a greater ideal to live up to...
if you really feel that way, i feel really sad for you.. you will never know what love is, you will never know what the sense of belonging is... you will always be looking over your shoulder because you will never be able to trust anyone or anything...
that's no way i want to live my life...
