Which Ministry in church do you serve, and why do you serve?

  how about u?? which ministry r u involve in? i've seen some of my friends helping in the mission work in Cambodia...& it looks like a great experience

  Sunday School.
  A very challenging ministry with the ever increasing intellectual capacity of the modern children.
  What can be more rewarding than having the children coming up to you and ask when is my next turn to teach, 'cos they missed my teaching?
  It is an honour to be part of these children's growing process.

  Funny leh .. Chin Eng not that young either .. somehow a 30+ man teaching children like very funny.

  Actually I am 40+, so it gets funnier.....
  I am teaching a class of 11s and 12s. Physical age should not be a barrier in service. I think I am able to connect with the young ones 'cos I am young at heart. I get a rousing welcome each time I teach, so something must be going right. I talk Pokemon, Harry Potter, Macross, Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre, Black Eye Peas, whatever.....
  
  For those contemplating servicing, stop considering and start doing something about it.

  I think an "old man/lady" taking sunday class is quite apt.. expecially those who have kids on their own.. at least they know how to handle them
  
  i serve as a projectionist, putting lyrics and notices on screen. i served because there was a lack of willing hands and my friend asked me.
  
  also in the BB ministry. grew up as a Boy in this ministry. i see it meaningful to guide youths as they grow.

  interestingly, I had found out from the principal of my son's school that what is needed with children nowadays is the father-figure. Most school volunteers are the mummies.
  95% of my teachers in the SS are parents and yes, I think they have been pretty effective in dealing with the children.
  Children are really smart nowadays. I have to fight the "personality cult" issue whereby some children choose to come only when certain teachers are teaching. Also, the older kids ask hard questions, and with the amount of media these kids have to deal with, I had one session dealing with Dan Brown's books. Here we are talking about the 12 years old.
  Nonetheless, God have always been blessing the Sunday School. The growth had been tremendous to a point that all my classes are bursting at the seams due to small rooms.

  ya, the children and youths are quite hard to handle as compared to those 4-5 years ago. it's either they are very eager to seek answers or they just like to challenge a lot of things (especially authorities). you can't blind some of them with cliche answers anymore.

  I think Chin Eng is an exception. Most fathers are pot bellied at 40++, you can't expect them to play 'eagle catch the chicks' game right?
  
  However I still have this stereotype males are more suitable to do the actual teaching. Somehow women are just weaker (generally) in theology. Who can name a modern Priscilla here?

  Actually, I cannot play "eagle catch the chicks" game.... too tiring.... rather play Halo.....
  
  I am glad that my students are fairly intellectual. Engaging them at an intellectual level is extremely exciting and to be part of the enlightening process is very rewarding.
