I need help for my Jpeg files:(

My hubby recently burnt some of my photos (in Jpeg format) into a DVD. However some of them can be viewed while some couldn't be viewed.
When i tried to copy those "faulty" files into my harddisk, the following error msg pops up
"the parameter is incorrect"
When i tried to open them with Photoshop, the following error msg pops up
"could not open (file name) because a JPEG marker segment length is too short (the file may be truncated or incomplete).
Appreciate if someone will help me to save these files as I have done some photo-editing on them and i really dread to have to edit them all over again.

This is not going to be easy but from your account, it seems like the data from the jpeg files have already been corrupted before they were placed in the dvd. jpeg files consist of ascii codes written within them, so if even one character within that coding is changed, all hell breaks lose.
It is difficult or near impossible to fix those files if they were corrupted from the source themselves usually resulting from a bad read and write of the data at the start. -
probably send the files to a croco and let croco deal wif it...

sigh... think i have to re-do them all over again.
but i was pretty sure that the files were fine before my hubby burnt them into the dvd.

Erm, i would like to add that data corruption could have occured most probably during the burn process to the DVD, since you mentioned that it was copied over. Its rare, but it occurs. Possibly a data cyclic reduncy on that particular data sector. Like the guy who can't install his eleven 7 game disc.

think i won't burn into dvd anymore... this is the 1st time my hubby used a dvd, and this prob occurs. Haven't had tat prob with all the previous cds we've burnt. -
A tip of advice when burning DVDs, do the data check at the end of each burn. Yes its damn slow, but at least you'll know if the data is burnt in properly so such errors wun happen in future. DVDs can hold gigs of data, which means its best to do the check after and before deleting the originals. Good luck.
