Yes, you are right. We need people like you. Since i became a Catholic Christian 10 yrs ago from Methodist, I have never heard either from a priest or lay man say bad things about other churches in the puplit. I am very proud to be a Catholic- witnessing to the love of Christ.Originally posted by frOst^~^nOva:Aren't we all brothers and sisters in Christ? Not bad things about other churches, but rather Protestantism as a whole. In case you don't know, Protestants are still technically heretics in the Catholic eyes.Originally posted by sliew:Yes, you are right. We need people like you. No worries. It's true what you say here. It is often that you hear Catholics who denies Protestants as heretics. But if you get to talk to more matured and more learned Catholics, they will acknowldge this fact but approach this with an answer that the present Roman Catholic Church are now trying to welcome back the Protestants "lost brothers & sister".Originally posted by Icemoon:Not bad things about other churches, but rather Protestantism as a whole. Have you attended Catholic apologetic classes or talks? Inevitably, during those sessions, you have to "bad-mouth" your Protestant brothers and sisters. If fandango (no offense, just to show my point) was to attend those classes or talks, he would feel "weird" and the Catholic attitude a bit too "arrogant".
are u implying that there are 2 different God?Originally posted by fandango:No worries. It's true what you say here. It is often that you hear Catholics who denies Protestants as heretics. The cold and hard fact is that Christianity and Roman Catholism are 2 DIFFERENT religion. Some say both worship the same God, but you will be surprised if you compare them. Save this for another day eh?
Just to add, as long as your view of the Trinitarian God is flawed, like Arianism and Nestorianism, your "God" is not the Christian God.Originally posted by fandango:I am implying that the Roman Catholic "God" is not the Christian God.
Opus Dei is an international lay apostolate organisation. For more information, take a look at the link http://www.opusdei.org/art.php?w=32&p=287Originally posted by Icemoon:Dun want to give spoilers.
Anyway have you heard of the Catholic-sanctioned organization called Opus Dei?
Roman Catholic God is not Christian God? You are making us very confused. Are you saying the Jesus we pray to is different from the Jesus you pray to? Are you saying we are not Christians?Originally posted by fandango:I am implying that the Roman Catholic "God" is not the Christian God.
in a sense yes.....he mean that. and i mean tt too.Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:Roman Catholic God is not Christian God? You are making us very confused. Are you saying the Jesus we pray to is different from the Jesus you pray to? Are you saying we are not Christians?
if i'm not praying to God then who am I praying to?Originally posted by NeonTetra:in a sense yes.....he mean that. and i mean tt too.
i know our statement may sound harsh...but when u compare the biblical Jesus and the catholic Jesus..u see a difference.Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:if i'm not praying to God then who am I praying to?
What is the difference my friend? There is only one God, only one King, only one saviour.....Originally posted by NeonTetra:i know our statement may sound harsh...but when u compare the biblical Jesus and the catholic Jesus..u see a difference.
One people, one nation, one Singapore ...Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:There is only one God, only one King, only one saviour.....
I am quite sure only the Roman Cathoilcs are confused here. I think Protestants (Neon, Icemoon, ChinEng) know that there is such a drastic gulf.Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:Roman Catholic God is not Christian God? You are making us very confused. Nay, don't drag me in. You should substitute Ventin instead.Originally posted by fandango:I think Protestants (Neon, Icemoon, ChinEng) know that there is such a drastic gulf.
Ooooo C'mon.....Originally posted by Icemoon:Nay, don't drag me in. You should substitute Ventin instead.
Actually, yeah.... he also quote a huge amount of crap and cross-link them into a bizarre story. So much so that there is a couple of shelves of books at Kinokuniya that attempts to debunk the Da-Vinci Code. This is the Harry Potter for adults....Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:Did his book say that the RC is founded by Constantine? What else does his book say....
I agreed with you x2. I want to be catholic too and have decided to take up catholic class next year and I was from other dinomination.Originally posted by sliew:Yes, you are right. We need to speak out cause there are just too many small and cultish like communities bad mouthing and 'knowing more than thou' attitude. I don't hate anyone of you just hope that these people can be awakened and try to learn how to appreciate each other tradition including other religions.
The present state of terrorism has its roots in extremism. Let us be careful of these people cause they may run into the same track and the world willl not be at peace.
Yup... this book and the other three too (Angels and Demons, Digital Fortress and Deception Point). Actually mostly quite crap. Wah lau, Chinese version!!! Quite commendable.Originally posted by Icemoon:Dun want to give spoilers.

Has Chin Eng read the book? Do you find the ending part a little bit confusing? I read the chinese version and you can imagine how "Champ Elysee" is translated into chinese.
PS: Da Vinci was a HOMOSEXUAL.
Aiyoh, I dunno you have such low opinion of the story .. hahaOriginally posted by Chin Eng:Actually, yeah.... he also quote a huge amount of crap and cross-link them into a bizarre story.
Might want to buy (borrow?) a copy. Not anything else, quite funny (the way Dan Brown tries to prove his case)
Actually DVC is pretty OK in the beginning. Then upon reading it a couple of times more, and then trying to validate the "facts" the plot is too painfully contrived. Eg the value of "Pi" in a hive of bees... not true, the number of pieces in the Lourve, 666? not true....Originally posted by Icemoon:Aiyoh, I dunno you have such low opinion of the story .. haha
Let's not reveal spoilers here, but why you say "a huge amount of crap" and "bizarre story"? I find the plot twist interesting and the clues an exercise in academic intellectualism.
Strange leh, Dan Brown supposed to be best-selling author, the DVC on the best-selling list for many many weeks. Dunno can match Kiyosaki's "Rich Dad Poor Dad" or not.Originally posted by Chin Eng:Nonetheless fun to read but not to be taken seriously...
Than the other books, they get worst...
