  that's not the only verse omitted in NIV, and for that matter, there are other translations that follows NIV with omissions. Don't know why it's so, shall go look around. I use KJV and NKJV usually.
  
  + looked it up on another forum, here's what they say.
  

  It's because the Translators and editors of the NIV chose to include the verse as a footnote. This verse doesn't show up as often in as many manuscripts, so they made it a footnote, but left the verse numbers intact so that it could be matched against other translations of the bible.
