agree to some of your views.. all this does not refer to all christian thanksOriginally posted by NeonTetra:After some thoughts both concerning myself and some other people, i began to see a trend of Christian hypocrisy in the world today.
People claiming to bear witness to the name of Christ and at the same time doing things contrary to the same.
Here say wanna pray for revival in their lives, when all these while living their own way. There ask God to change and transform them, while they continue to indulge themselves in blatant immorality.
A Christian is not a golden cross wearer, nor a Bible carrier(the bookshelf can do better than you), or a singer. A Christian is a follower of Christ. make sure you do that!
i don't think he's referring to ALLOriginally posted by ^sylvia^:agree to some of your views.. all this does not refer to all christian thanks

some of them think they can sin all they want, then used god and sundays to clear their guilty conscience.Originally posted by NeonTetra:I am greatly concerned over the mindset of some modern Christians. I wonder what they see God as? What is the basis of their faith? Do they focus on a charismatic speaker? Do they go after some nice looking church buildings? Do they see church as another social gathering? well..of course these are just examples....but really....when all these fanciful things are stripped off from a Christian's life...what is left? For me...I hope that when everything is removed and laid bare...I still have Jesus Christ in me. that is true Christianity....a very pleasing one infact.
The attitude that you refer to being among some modern Christians, i believe, pertain primarily to those who preach the so-called "prosperity Christianity", with much influence from the charismatic churches. Think: those that have huge 'gawdy' structures (even crosses, most in neon lighting), whose leaders have middle to upper-middle class incomes, whose community work tend to portray themselves as unique among neighbouring churches, whose members (mainly youth) tend to dress over-the-top for service, with elitism in the way they carry themselves, whose programs subtly push themselves into the limelight....Originally posted by NeonTetra:I am greatly concerned over the mindset of some modern Christians. You know this verse even when you are not a Christian? I think you ought to be saved!Originally posted by Nelstar:“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out demons? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me”
Matthew 7:22,23
There are many people like this, so just make sure you walk in the right direction.
(Pls note: I am not a Christian, just quoting.)

[b]a smoker knows that smoking is wrong, but is unable to quit YET, but he HAS to tell someone not to get into smoking habit. does that make him a hypocrite?
No. In this case, facts will speak for themselves. If you believe smoking is harmful, does it matter whose mouth does it come from?
and just because someone is unable to commit as much as a "good christian" can to the Lord, doesn't make him a "lousy christian" or a hypocrite?
You don't go out of point lah. It is not really about judging people.
The original scenario is this
