as continued from my 'Christian Hypocrites' thread.....we know its wrong that Father Kang does that...we made noise over such..but are we better ourselves? R we certain that we don do things even more wrong than him? We can correct others, but we cannot pass judgment on others...unless and until we can say we are sinless....can we?

the tone not just being frank and state the fact but to add more things to it. We so called 'pass sentence' on that individual when we ourselves are no better.
By judging..we are implying that we are above the judgment which is totally not the case.
This should not be confused with rebuking and admonishing and should not result in us keeping our mouths shut when we see something going out of hand. When we disciplined ppl or point out their mistakes, it is very crucial to do in love and embrace...and make known to the offender that we too are sinners saved by grace and God is able to forgive US when we sin. Not making the whole episode as if we are saints and he a sinner....no...not like this.

just wanna say some of my own thoughts regarding this Father Kang case... many many ppl in singapore condemn him for wat he has done, saying tt he's a priest and shouldn't be doing this and he should be severly punished, but why aren't we looking at ourselves b4 we condemn others... i mean aren't we all sinners too? i rem a particular story in the bible, where some ppl brought a woman who has commited adultery to Jesus and wanted to stone her to death. but Jesus said tt if unless you are sinless, what rite do we have to stone her? in the same context, what right do we have to condemn Father Kang? Whatever he does, he'll be answerable to God what Judgement day comes. So i guess we all shouldn't condemn him. "Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sinned against us"

Your comparison is invalid. It can be argued Jesus was saving the woman's life but we are not trying to kill Father Kang isn't it? It is a great leap to equate condemning in our case (verbal abuse at the most) to taking a life. -
If only life is fair. Some ppl are born blind, do u think they went through a trial with a panel of jury before they are sentenced to being blind? Nope.
Since life is not fair, why should we be fair? Fairness doesn't exist in this world. It's just a beautiful dream, or shall i say a bubble waiting to burst. -

If we do not judge father kang just because everyone sins, then we cannot judge saddam hussein, osama bin laden or the killers tat cut down the american head. Everyone sins isn't it ? Since everyone sin, does tat means those who sin in crime shouldn't be punish ? Then we should release all the criminals in the jail or stop all legislation now. Policemen should all be fired and lawyers r not necessary anymore. Let the cities run riot and allow the strong to bully the weak.
For your info, judging and laws etc is necessary to protect the weak and to preserve orderly. Bringing and discussing tis issue can served as a deterent -

Although some might say tt this is serious because he is a priest and he is misusing the church funds, but who here is sinless? So i just mean tt we should all give him a break and stop even the verbal abuse. -
Ya ... who here is sinless? But you must understand priests are not any normal people in the Catholic world. They have the power to administer penance! The Catholic clergy is Christ's representative on Earth. Which protestant pastor has this power?
Most importantly, Father Kang does not appear penitent. -
I was thinking...what if he didn't do it? What if there was a mistake somewhere? Of course if he is a thief then he better take the punishment.

Yeah i agree with you that he doesn't appear remorseful. Maybe he felt tt wat he has done is right, only he knows. anyways this discussion would go on forever and ever because there are so many ways to look at it but i must admit, this incident is a stain on the Catholic community in Singapore. Hopefully we'll all still remain strong in our faith.
