well agreed. Read it not because it is only right for Christians to do so....but rather to know God as He revealed Himself thru the scriptures.Originally posted by joeljuls:Perhaps I'll like to offer my little experience as walk with Jesus on this one.
It is good yo read thru the bible a least twice to get the helicopter view of the bible. Remember not to do study or try too much to understand but do mark the parts you don't understand and return to it later.
The bible is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path suggest that the bible is like guide to the map to God and godly living. It is not use like a mantra or manual. You should understand the principles behind what is written rather than to memorize it due to ever present translation problems from one language to another. Once you understand the paths as to what God wants in principle, your dependance should be based on understanding. It is like your road amp book of Singapore, after a few times of using it, you need not depend on it but based your aquired knowledge it is then translated into daily living or develop true relationship with God.
Singaporeans have the problems of memorizing things in whatever they do. We must change our mindset to tat of our education system when it comes to God.
I urge you all to develop lifestyle relationship with God based on the principles of the written word. So what you read alot and not experience the power of the living word living it?
