iPod was $950!
anyway, pretty pleased with myself.. even more pleased that there is direct encoding from a source.. which means that i can just stick my CD player with the thing and it'll just record as MP3.. no need to rip, no need for a PC

say you got 250 cds with 15 tracks ripped to an above-average 5meg per piece.
that'll consume 18.75 gig.
can still store 1+ gig of schedule, documents and stuff.. -

too bad i already got an unreasonably expensive Sony Wintel machine... but then, i could get the even more unreasonably Sony Viao and have enough left over for a digital moviecam for that price of the Apple...
i could, in one fell swoop, get a DVD-RW with -R and +R, some machine with 1GB RAM, 64MB dedicated graphics card, 2.8GHz, 80GB HDD machine that reads off any Sony digital cam equipment without any drivers... and a 2.5 Megapixel moviecam... with that amount...
i think no contest.. i'll stick to my Sony VIAO -
