Uhh.. just want to know... coz they are different in their translation and i know the Catholic Bible has a few books which aren't in the others... i'll list the books out and do tell me which ones aren't in the rest...

don have Apocrypha in our Bibles.
Anglicans however recognise "the other books the Church doth read for example of life and instruction of manners; but yet doth it not apply them to establish any doctrine...."

those in red are usually not found in bibles used by protestants.. 39 in old testament, 27 in new testament.. in total there's 66 books..

i use the Life Applications Study Bible - New International Version.
A Catholic fren and Christian fren of mine had an argument during one lunch over the books. The Christian fren insists the Catholic bible has more books, while the Catholic maintains that the Christian bible is short of some books.
I remained silent and concentrated on my lunch

There is a way to decide on whether certain books are included or not based on historical tracing and cross references and most importantly the accuracy and doctrinal origins......The Apocrypha mostly are Jewish legends something like the Fairy tales of the Chinese (Journey to the West) and do not contain revelations about the God of Israel directly. However, we as Protestants can read them for extra knowledge and learn some moral values from these excluded books but not to view them as divine inspired and doctrinal.

The 39 Articles of Episcopal Religion
For those who want to know the main difference between Roman Catholic and Protestants. This is quite a wordy confession of faith. The issue on Apocrypha is also addressed in one of the 39 articles.

i wonder... to many, the 3 faithful men who were thrown into the furnace by the Babylonian king and yet survived, would be faerie tales... along with Sodom & Gomorrah, Lot's wife, Noah's Ark.. the miracles of Jesus... are also faerie tales...
does it mean that we can pick and choose what we want to believe in ?

thanks for the thought bear..
in a certain sense, we read everything we can.. but we should choose what is good for us.. it's like food laid before us, all look delicious, but only certain food are beneficial.. in the same way, we pick and choose the many literature found other than the bible... i think whether the 'extra' books are inspired by God, only He knows.. on our part we should read with the Spirit's guidance.. ultimately, it's still free will to choose what you want to believe in.. the Apocrypha is still very much available to read, it's really up to indiviudals to read prayerfully..

Greenville Church Burns the Bible
August 3, 2003
GREENVILLE -- A church in Greenville thinks the Harry Potter books are part of an evil cult, so church leaders decided to have an old-fashioned book burning, but children's books were not the only things that went into the fire.
"They have changed it the key points in the Bible," said Bishop Tom Turner Sr. of Jesus Non-Denominational Church in Greenville.
"The majority of it's probably the same, but it takes just a little bit to mislead people."
So the Book of Mormon, versions of the Bible, even the Catholic Rosary, all went up in flames.
Church leaders say any Bible besides the King James version that they use, are distractions.
However, religion experts say this is something very uncommon to West Michigan.
Dr. Bastiaan VanElderen has been studying religion at Calvin College since the 1940s and has never seen anything like this here.
"No, not at all," said VanElderen. "I've heard a lot of harangs about differing viewpoints, but nothing of this caliber."
Still, pastors sight a passage from the book of Acts that mentions burning pagan literature.
"So mightily grew the word of God and revailed," said Tom Turner Jr.. "When did it prevail? When they burned them and made a public testimony that they are for God."
Book burnings aren't a new part of our country's history, but Dr. VanElderen says the last time he remembers burning Bibles was in the South in the 1950s. -

i heard them said that NIV is Satanic..but didnt know how they dealt with it.. -

but the version doesn't matter to me.. anyway when you read u still need the Spirit's guidance right?
the burning of bibles is a bit overboard..
