Do I think burning qurans is a good idea? No.
Do I think it will do anything to foster better relationships within religions? No.
Do I support Terry Jones' right to burn them...YES.
I don't want him to burn any Qurans, but the United States has a constitution which gives us many basic rights, many of which are due to Americans giving their lives or fighting for them. The first amendment is a guarantee of free speech and assembly, and that's where this falls under. We also have the 10th amendment, which limits the Federal Government's power...so even if Obama doesn't want it to happen, he can't stop it.
Many years ago there was a big debate in my country about burning the flag. You cannot burn your flag in Singapore, but you can burn the American flag in the US. Many people were outraged and fought to ban burning the flag as it desecrated everything the flag stood for and disrespected the many men and women who gave their lives for it. In the end, people are allowed to burn the flag. The same thing goes with the religious groups who protest funerals of dead soldiers or gays with signs like "God Hates Fags" and "Thank God for Dead Soldiers." If we don't ensure constitutional rights are given to every American, regardless of what we think of them, then eventually no one would have them.
I am from Singapore.
Do I think God gives us the right of free speech? YES.
Do I think God gives us the right to speak as we like, regardless how others may be affected ? NO.
Do I think God want us to live harmoniously with people of different race or religion? YES.
Do I think burning the quran pleases God? NO.
Do I think muslims shd burn the Bible because some christians burn the quran? NO.
Do I think the american should burn quran because of 911? NO.
Do I think Bin Laden should crash the planes into the tower because of american's presence in the middle east? NO.
Do I think the american should hate bin laden? NO, because it was the american who trained bin laden to be a terrorist against the russian in agfanistan.
Do I think the amercian should invade iraq? YES, but don't stoop so low as to use a lie about WMD.
Keep your american constitution, your act affect the rest of the world.
Call on the american to burn quran, and we will see what happen.
don't use a church, or the name of God, for your unGodly act, there are many Christians who are not american.

We're discussing two different things. I support it on a constitutional level. I'm not a Christian or a Muslim, I don't believe there are omnipotent beings floating around in the sky wanting us to do ridiculous things. I'm not using the church for anything. This is an American issue, so I'm talking about it from an American's POV.

that's why I tell you to call on America to burn the quran at the time square, in front of the white house, or whatever, then that would be a totally american issue. We would be just too happy to sit and watch CNN.
When a US clegy call from a church to burn the islamic holy book in the church compound, it is a religious issue, not an american issue, and american constitution does apply.
Should burn the bible instead.
apparently the american constitution allow religious persecution via 'freedom of speech'
how wonderfully brilliant
This action of burning Quran only shows how stupid people can be when it comes to religion. Burning a book does not prove anything and it only outrage others who would think of how to 'get back'. It is during such incident that I'm glad we have laws that prevent people from insulting or agitating other religion.

You have wasted precious energy again!
"In Narathiwat province, a 54-year old Buddhist and his 52-year old wife were gunned down while they riding a bike. Both of them were teachers and they were on their way to work.
The Muslim insurgents have threatened to kill 20 teachers altogether and these two are the first victims of the series. They have distributed fliers that said, “WANTED: 20 Deaths of Buddhist teachers.” "

a tit for tat is not the way to resolve a historical warfare since King Richard...not the braveheart but rather an impetus and rather extremist heart....
to be fair....the prophet wielding a sword and a crescent over the world....is not doing any good as well since then....
national songs with imprecations of wars and enemies have wrought more disasters and deaths by the millions are also involved....
all these representations and emblems...the people are just pawns serving a powerful few...
from Tom's Age of Reason...reason is overloaded with too much reasons.....and to now...we can clearly pronounce a new age.....
Age of Hatred.....someone needs to write off that book or thoughts....
afterall....we now know how difficult was Gandhi when he practised Non-Violent Resistance...
I ASK SKY WHEN PEACE WOULD BE RESTORED...
burning someone's beliefs is wrong...we can reason out...or show by peaceful and non-violent means...

People should be asking what/who put thoughts of stirring up trouble in his mind. The answer could be a surprising one. Expect more events and incidents of potential unrest that can spread quickly and involve many people around the world in coming years. Religion has always been the easiest thing to manipulate to cause people to fight and kill each other.
As for whether the potential unrest becomes actual unrest, depends on the level of Consciousness of people in coming years. Course of action and reaction is always a personal choice, which many people unfortunately have given up to conform with group actions/reactions, led by misguided or malicious (in disguise) souls.

He didn't burn the book. Does that mean the US is no longer in fear of terrorism? Have all the terrorists gone away now?
I'll use the words of a man much smarter than I:
What we did was appease radical elements of Islam by suppressing an American citizen's rights. And in doing so, we supported, aided and abetted the enemy by letting them dictate to us how we behave in a free society.

I'm well aware of the answer to my questions, no. We'll still live in fear of terrorism, and terrorists will still be around to ruin everyone's day. Nobody will be happy until the Islamization of the US is complete:

You are confused. There is a war between America and Radical Islam.
Not a war between Christian and Muslim in general.
If everybody will be happy when the US is islamized, then let it be.
Burn joss paper instead, no Taoist is going to find fault with you for that.
apparently there are people who are too stupid to find out who is the cause of all these =_=

There are muslims and non muslims in America.
american constitutions govern both muslims and non muslim in america.
All americans, including the muslims, have rights.
You are all in a free society. They are free, you are free.
Now this is a war between the muslim and non muslim american, fight it out in America.
The muslims call it jihat, you can't call this holy war, because you are not a christian.
So, please, don't get christians involved.

When did I get Christians involved? I'm talking about constitutional rights, I'm not talking about Christians. I'm not talking about a religious war from my end. I don't know how to make it any clearer. What if I end the sentence with lah....now do you understand?

To begin with, it was a church pastor who call on his members to burn koran in a church. That implicate christians and that is why christians are discussing if what he did was right or wrong, not if he had the right to do.
and you come on to a christian forum to defend based on constitution rights. Wrong place.
Like I said earlier, get out of the church, call on all americans to burn koran in time square, or in front of the white house, or some monuments, and lets see what happen.
I will be watching CNN. Won't interfere with the constitution rights of the american, in the american soil.
Nobody here discuss whether the mosque should be allowed to be built at ground zero, do they have the right?
