i dont think ISD waste our taxes arresting people who think church is bigger than gahmen or nationa
when Rony Tan was blasting other faiths, I dun see the national council of churches to come out to condemn the actions of his actions. but when CHC was investigated by COC and CAD, they come out to say that we should not draw on conclusions before the investigation was completed.
2 separate public outcry, but 2 different ways of handling.
own people protect own people
how to command respect from public.

this is what we called the politicization of religion.....it is deeply involved...and secrecy shrouded...we are not to know....as in the movie The Da Vinci Code.....The Scion has an invisible backing
i blame the Freemasons
It is very sad that whenever people look at the church, they can't see beyond a certain pastor and his wife. It is sad and really shouldn't be the way. Obviously something has gone very wrong somewhere for it to become like this.
A church obviously should be more than just about two particular members of the church.
as mentioned....it has an invisible and very powerful backing..perhaps political.....its not for "us" to know
how come the conspiracy theories?
Originally posted by A dot dot B dot dot:City Harvest Church under investigation by CAD and Commissioner of Charities04:00 PM May 31, 2010The Office of the Commissioner of Charities (COC) and the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD) are investigating some financial transactions involving several individuals and companies related or connected to the City Harvest Church (CHC).
This was after the COC had received complaints of misuse of church funds and informed the CAD.
The CAD had assessed that it may need to investigate some of these financial transactions.
A joint statement by the COC and Police on said CAD officers visited the offices of the individuals and the companies under investigation on Monday morning.
Records and accounts were secured for the purpose of the investigations.
The CAD and CAD have assured that despite the ongoing investigations, the normal services and religious activities of the City Harvest Church need not be disrupted and can continue for its congregation.
The CHC was founded in 1989 by Pastor Kong Hee. According to its website, it has 47 affiliate churches in 2009, 29 of which comes under the direct supervision of CHC. The remaining 18 come under the Harvest School of Ministry led by Rev. George Ong.
In 2001, CHC built a 2,300-seater, titanium-clad church complex in Jurong West Street 91 for $48,000,000.
In March this year, CHC announced it is paying $310 million to become a co-owner of Suntec Singapore - this includes the cost of acquiring shares in the consortium which owns 80 per cent of a joint venture fund that owns Suntec Singapore.gongxi kong hee. he xi kong hee.
As a long time buddhist believer, I am alright with christians. However there was one time a friend invited me to City Harvest for a service. I was like, oh no, very out of place.
Tell the CHC ppl to quit CHC!
Don't follow Kong Hee. Be buddhish and go follow Mingyi. At least Mingyi can perform stunts to entertain us.

I don't understand whats wrong with a church having money to invest in stuff FOR the church? If an individual, whether a leader or pastor has attempted to dishonestly appropriate the money, then there is a cause for criticism and concern. However, if the church spends the money according to how its entire leadership has concluded it should, then what is wrong? Its not like the church goers are in the dark about how the church spends the money right?
The same for any other organization. How the organization decides to spend the money is their own affair. If the entire management or board of directors it should spend money that way, then so be it. As long as its accountable to its shareholders.
To bring this to a slight extreme. Who can tell another guy's family how the family spends the money is wrong? Its their affair, not anyone else's to critique.
I think what needs to be looked at here is not whether a church, or non-profit organization, should be taxed for its profit-making ventures. That is an entirely different matter.
