Ya, it's pretty sad that people choose to put their 'blind faith' totally in machines and science. Who created us? Evolution? Kinda nonsense isnt it if we think of the complexities of our body.
It defies any logic or scientific theories that its just a mere coincidence that we are who we are. What if we have our feet where our hands should be? What if we have our nose where our mouths should be? What if our internal organs are not organised as they way they are now? Coincidence?
Look at the things around us; animals, plants, mountains, trees etc. All have their own purpose. Coincidence?
All of us will die one day. Isnt it sad that we forget that? So what are our purpose in this life?
So the science take all the credit for saving the girl's life? Who gave us the brains to be who we are? To invent the things we see today? Without faith, what is there for us to cling on to when times are bad, or when we are on the down?
Btw, im a Muslim.
this thread still don wan to die out?

Karl Popper sees otherwise from you, "Although in science we do our best to find the truth, we are conscious of the fact that we can never be sure whether we have
got it….In science there is no "knowledge," in the sense in which
Plato and Aristotle understood the word, in the sense which
implies finality; in science, we never have sufficient reason for the
belief that we have attained the truth.…"What kind of science? empirical science? inductive science?
And what kind of truth? origins of the universe? meaning of life? how did morality come about?
Science is dynamic, always changing to inch nearer to the truth.
But what is truth? According to hume's fork: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hume%27s_fork there cant be a truth, due to the fact that we might be deluded by our senses.
To fully accept hume's law, it would mean everything is pointless. Yet i do not wish for that nor do I fully agree with hume's law. Only partially.
Thus my opinion of "truth" is what people's senses tell them, together with what you have discovered, using your rational and logical thinking.
The origins of the universe, may or may not be discovered by science
The meaning of life is decided by ourselves
Morality is created by HUMANS DUH!

I don't understand what is the truth of things. Learning science can only discover how things work, that's all. Will a human build a machine that he cannot control? Will the creator create humans to be more intelligent than Him?
I doubt that the human race can explain everything with science.
At this stage, there's no scientific tool to convince that the believers(in God) are wrong. Until the time comes, let's stick to learning what we already know about science.
Don't be too quick to jump to conclusion and deny God's existence. Be an agnostic, not an atheist.
Being an agnostic who questions the existence of a supreme creator, and honestly uses his intelligence to find him is good.
Being an agnostic who believes the christian/muslim, etc god MIGHT exist is stupidity. The scriptures are self-contradictory, they preach morals which conflict with current moral standards, most believers develop irritating and annoying personalities to pester people to convert. there are just too many bad points. more goes on in my mind, i am just lazy to type out all
What is with all this rubbish
january
ppl thanks god guan ni pi shi? must condem christian then u happy isit?

eh i was wondering what does agnostic mean.
but abit chim to understand. can summarize?
Well, being an agnostic means you are uncertain of the existence of a god or gods.
With our current ability and knowledge, there is no way of answering the question about a god's existence. Thus I applaud people who honestly and courageously use their brains to seek the answer to this.
Whereas I despise people who cling on to faith when times are bad, people who submit to emotional or peer pressure and convert to christianity/islam, people who blindly delude themselves into thinking there is a god, and dismiss all other theories, believing these theories originate from the devil. I think such people will be the bane of humanity. Religion, even in moderation, provides a breeding ground for such idealogy.
I pity those who do not believe in the existence of God. If judgement day comes, you will be the one begging for mercy. You can argue all you want on earth but do not regret...
I can bet my money on one of the thousands of gods, none of which probably exist anyway. Or then I can spend the money and enjoy this one life I know I have. Umm... which do I choose? Exactly.

At the moment you say this, theres another billion people saying the same about you. So who am i supposed to believe? True some people say they are touched by a certain religion, but have they experienced every one? Its like saying 7up is better than coke without trying coke.

Well, as an atheist, what can i say. God is taking credit for nothing again. Come on, it people who invent the machine and the doctors who save her. I hope singapore govt and media can really educate the public masses the right thing and not to spread wrong beliefs in life.
WTH.
depends if the healing is spiritual or physical

You can type a thousand posts but its redundant. We will all know after death.
Isn't it ironic that one should ridicule another person's theistic beliefs, and yet place all his faith and trust in mankind, which has repeatedly let itself down?

Well, it proves that mankind is continually evolving...LOL.

Nope. Biologically, we have not adapted to the institutions we have put in place, and we still squabble and wage wars overy territory and ideology. We have expanded our collective body of knowledge and ability to manipulate resources, but not the ability to share them equally. We create, build and tweak systems of governance and economy but they continue to fail.
Do not ridicule another person's search for perfect truth in the divine when mankind has never proved its worth in the first place.

Calling Science "blind faith" isn't the smartest thing to do is it.? after all, it is science that explains why is it that you are rooted to the ground.
And it's not like i'm totally disregarding the possiblity that Jesus walked on water. Who knows, maybe he could walk at 40 miles per hour >.>.... Stand back Usain Bolt.!

Look at AIDS, God created aids as a revenge to all those who had wild-sex and sorts. Yet, no matter what scientist are always getting nearer to find its solution.
There are sayings which conclude to "God will create both the sickness and cure together before sending them on Earth"
If that is the case, why is God punishing the featus in a pregnant woman who has AIDS with AIDS...? Did the featus had a wild sex party too...?

but in your other reply, u seem to be one of those doofus who imagine: because evolution is true, therefore God doesn't exist. Mind enlightening me how does evolution theory prove God's nonexistence? Because there've been people (e.g. Simon Conway Morris and Ronald Fisher) who have no problem believing both.
Erm... If humans prove that evoluion was true and we evolved from monkeys, it would actually debunk the claim that God created us in his image...?
And by proving the Theory of Evolution, it would have proven that the Earth is MILLIONS of years old and not a few THOUSANDS like the Bible shows.
Making Genesis pure doo-doo.

What about those who had tried coke and prefers 7-up.? Wouldn't it all amount to personal perference.? Or maybe subliminal messages in the media.? Or peer pressure.? You can't assume that everyone follows their true thoughts. Cause many succumbs to peer pressure.
