Presbyterian is strictly no for children/non-baptised members to partake...for fear that they may not know what they are partaking...Originally posted by Chin Eng:My church has the practise of administering communion to children as well. Therefore children baptised as infants can partake the communion. These children will be required to go through confirmation when they are older.
Sounds biblical.Originally posted by laoda99:Presbyterian is strictly no for children/non-baptised members to partake...for fear that they may not know what they are partaking...
Some charismatic churches view communion as a cure for sickness....Originally posted by Icemoon:Sounds biblical.
Of course if anyone thinks partaking communion is like drinking some energy drink to get you spiritually vitalised .. then baptised children also can take.

1 Cor 11
27Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. 29For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.
And yes...any baptised christian of any branch can partake too....
communion don't heals, not a magic portion, but the Lord does. And its the constant reminder of what the Lord had done (human very fogetful, so constant reminder needed), that we can have the confidence to pray and believed the healing that is by the grace of God through Christ Jesus.Originally posted by laoda99:Some charismatic churches view communion as a cure for sickness....

does it says a person must examine himself, confess sin .... ect then be considered worthy before he/she can partake communion?
OR
does it simply says, to partake the communion in a worthly manner
??
the preceeding verses speaks of how Paul 'scolded' the corinthians on how they misbehaved when they come together to partake communion like hogging the bread, getting themselves drunk with the wine ...etc, then come this part that says about partaking in an unworthly manner.
Then comes a man need to examine himself before he eats... examine what? is sin mentioned, no, the verse after that explain this...it about 'recognizing the body of the Lord'.
furthermore, if one need to need to do the confession ...etc to make himself worthly before partaking the communion, why then would Jesus, our Lord taught that its not the healthy (worthly) that needs a doctor (Him), but the sick (unworthly)?
cheers
