RECENTLY, I was approached at home by a young teenager soliciting donations. He claimed to be from City Harvest Church.Ok la .. the chief pastor of CHC doesn't get paid .. which means the church has even more money in the coffer!!
I was surprised as, according to the church's website, the church has total assets of $65,903,000 as of last year, a figure which has been increasing since 2003. Last year, it received $24 million in donations.
Why does the church require its members to go door to door to ask for donations?

Did that person mentioned what is this donation drive for? is it for the church or some charity organisation?Originally posted by Icemoon:In tandem with the ongoing discussion about pastor's pay ..

yes yes... I remember, that time someone from Mercy Relief comes to my door, that guy show me a copy of the permit showing he is from Mercy Relief (with his name/Ic number/ref.# ...etc on it), I think they have to register with NCSS also, anyway, he show me the permit and his own I/C to verfly he have the permit and he is the person stated in the permit.Originally posted by sillyme:A permit to must be obtained to collect donations in public. The permit will display the organisation he is collecting donations for.
Anyone can claim to be from a religious group to collect donations. The person should have asked the person collecting donations to show permit.
As much as I don't agree with CHC as a church, that is a sweeping statement and you know it. Also, you should read sillyme's post. And you are pathetic, looking for any chance to attack Christians, no matter how lame it may be.Originally posted by NUS_Superst@r:Cos God never answer their prayers.

does the church use the money to actually help the community? and when i mean help the community, i do not mean helping people stay out of the fairytale wonderland called hell. i mean financial aid and charity drives or something.Originally posted by jay_rocks:the money all go to church, then keep thr for what? as if they are doing charity
if u donate enough to a church, the people in church will probably tell u that u are on ur way to heaven.Originally posted by charlize:If the pastor isn't rich, how can his congregation go to heaven?
How?
