Let's not drift far from the topic (or escape from discussing the main issue).
Is it right for a pastor (who earns from donations, contributions) to apply for a platinium card and purchase a prestigious club membership? Is it right for a pastor to draw $10,000 pay a month and who decides the pay? The pastor himself or the community?
And from the $10,000 salary a month, how much is donated willingly by the community without pressure and how much is contributed through the Pastor's effort (appealing for donating during church service and meetings)?
Let's stick to Singapore's context since we already have personal testimonial. By the way, a pastor (who owns an expensive club membership) just said hi to me at the clubhouse.

But the people in the vatican like the cardinals, the rpiest, the bishops are all poor and live frugal lifestyle. Many poor man living in a mansion (but not using its facilities).
Btw the vows a the pope/priest/cardinals takes like celibacy etc etc are a far bigger sacrifice than a 'platinum card etc etc' -

An internal review found Bishop Robert Solomon's pay and allowances totalled 946,000 Singapore dollars (US$606,410) since he took office in January 2001.
The church's highest office bearer received nearly 372,000 Singapore dollars more than what he should have.
The overpayment was an "honest mistake", The Straits Times quoted a church spokesperson as saying.
The church was satisfied that no one was lining his "own pockets", he added.
Some members are still upset. An anonymous letter was circulated expressing unhappiness that the full sum had not yet been retrieved and that those responsible for the mistake were not asked to resign.
The bishop, 50, is in the process of repaying the extra money, used to finance such items as home utility bills and car expenses, according to a report by the church's General Conference Executive Council.
The review by more than 100 church leaders concluded that the bishop had been wrongly given a much higher pay package than he was entitled to receive.
A doctor by training, Solomon was re-elected in January 2005 to head the 33,000-member Methodist Church. It runs 16 primary and secondary schools in Singapore and has more than 40 churches.
The church said it was studying internal procedures to prevent such a mistake from recurring.

Anyway, at least they are honest enough to admit their "honest mistake". But the most highly paid ones are not the Methodists, but mostly the non denominational ones, namely the mega church.
The worst thing is... the one drawing the high salary is always the one appealing for donation at every service.
Anyway the Methodist Church is now reviewing the internal procedure to correct what has been done wrong. I always trust that the main stream who strive as much as possible to follow the system properly. Right now I still trust they will and have learnt from their mistake.
