Bungalows are supposed to be small.Originally posted by Honeybunz:Your perception of bungalow is so small one ah?
Btw, priesthouse is not occupied by one priest only. It's several priests squeezed inside, including the serving parish priests and some retired priests that only come out once in a while. Also some meeting rooms are also built within the priesthouse for the parishioners to have their regular meetings etc.
A bungalow (Hindi: बुन्गलोव is a type of single story house. The word derives from Hindi word bangla from 1676. It literally means a house "in the Bengal style".[1] Such houses were traditionally small, only one story, thatched and had a wide veranda.[2] Bungalows today are a type of house that is usually single story or one and a half stories, and can be quite large.Bungalows today can be quite large, but size of living space alone does not mean much. Condos are small, but people pay for the facilities. Some condos are quite small, swimming pool also non existent, but people still pay for it. Privacy I guess? A priesthouse might be small to you, but the compound is HUGE. No swimming pool for the priest (maybe baptism pool? LOL), but the priest is free to wander around the church compound. It is different from wandering under the void deck because mata will come and question you.
If you give away 2nd hand cars, make sure you give petrol vouchers every month also. Also make sure the car is in reasonable good condition, i.e. it shouldn't break down every 200km.Originally posted by Honeybunz:Their cars are old cars and they drive the same old cars for years. True that many Singaporeans cannot afford that. But if you give away such 2nd hand car with car plate starting with SBK... you think any Singaporeans will want? Most Singaporean rich or poor only want to drive 1-2 year old car. This brings me to another question about pastors drawing high salary: Do they need so much money so that they can drive better and newer cars (2 Litres car instead of 1000 cc)?
Financial deficit don't tell the whole story. You need to factor in the assets.Originally posted by Honeybunz:If financial deficit can't tell much, then I dunno what can.
Secrets of the Vatican
http://www.news24.com/News24/World/News/0,,2-10-1462_1685114,00.html
Vatican - The Vatican state with barely half a square kilometre is the world's smallest country.
The enclave on the Vatican hill in north-west Rome is a sovereign state and is headed by the pope. By virtue of his office, the pontiff has one of the world's largest fortunes at his disposal.
The Vatican state has its own government, jurisdiction and small army. Apart from that, the Holy See has diplomatic relations with nearly 180 countries around the globe. About 900 people, mainly clergy and members of the papal guard, live within its boundaries.
St Peter's Basilica is the Vatican's most famous building, adjoined by the papal palace with more than 1 000 rooms.
The historic edifice with fortress walls dating back to the 16th or 17th centuries gained independent status in 1929 after the conclusion of Lateran Pacts with Italy. On February 11, Pope Pius XI and Benito Mussolini created the Vatican in its current dimensions and secured additional sovereignty rights and buildings.
They include the pope's summer residence in Castel Gandolfo, office buildings, palaces and cathedrals in Rome.
The Vatican's assets are a well-kept secret but one which is the topic of much speculation. Estimates range from $1.5bn to $15bn and more. They include works of art and buildings which for the most part cannot be sold.
Large parts of the Vatican's assets are in securities and gold reserves. Additional assets are in rental revenues, the sale of coins, stamps and souvenirs as well as monies from church taxes in the dioceses and the so-called Peter's penny - a special, annual collection for the pope.
Despite the wealth, the Vatican's budget has shown a deficit of several million dollars since 2001 but which is secured by assets. - Sapa-dpa

There is no indications by God that pastors are not allowed to own platinum car or olub memberships.Originally posted by Honeybunz:Guess what?
Met with an ex-Methodist. He said that a Methodist Pastor is paid $10,000 a month, with lodging provided for and children's education paid. He said that megachurch (not to name names here) are paid more.
Wah! Even my boss and my boss' boss dun get this kind of pay and benefits.
Actually for one to question the high pay of a pastor is dangerous.Originally posted by Honeybunz:Guess what?

And therefore a pastor can use people's hard earned money on luxurious stuff? People donate to build the church, not for pastors to send their children to expensive schools.Originally posted by MS:There is no indications by God that pastors are not allowed to own platinum car or olub memberships.

If one should covet a pastor's wealth, he/she should just become a pastor and probably set up a new mega church. This is a sure way to get rich. It's so easy - every Sunday go tell the youngster that God wants them to contribute 10% of what they have and make them think that they are doing this for God and not for one person's pocket.Originally posted by Icemoon:Actually for one to question the high pay of a pastor is dangerous.
it might be an indication that one has covet other's wealth spiritually.

They are just shameless ppl who need to fulfil their desire of wealth and power. Just like the case of Durai of NKF.Originally posted by Honeybunz:Up till now, still nobody could explain why a pastor needs such a high salary. He is not a CEO or MD of a multi million dollar business. He is merely a servant serving in a community which survives highly on individual's weekly donation at the church service.
Previously, some have said that because pastors have families to feed. That is fine. But... $10,000 a month?!?!!? He has 50 children to feed?
