  You missed out one point.
  
  $$ is needed for evangelism. While it is true God doesn't need the money, the latter is necessary to do the work of God.

  It is better to be grounded in proper theology before you read such books.
  
  Read books by reputable authors. You can start with R.C. Sproul if you want.

  Since the Jewish commandments (tithing is one) are non binding on Christians, where did they get the idea it is compulsory?
