it is a commandent in the old testament for the israelite to tithes. it is compulsory.Originally posted by popmynutsy:tithing is biblical. got write in bible. something bout giving back to god their harvest. maybe because they believe that god give them a good harvest so they repay him back.
1 cor 16 most likely refer to an 1 time giving for the jerusalem church that is in need of $$$.Originally posted by Icemoon:Personally I don't see the difference between offering and tithe except
1. tithing is for the church. purpose is unstated. it is up for them to spend it. most will go into paying the church workers and pastors.
2. offering is for a specific purpose. like supporting some missionary trip. basically supporting people doing the works of God.
Since technically the tithing commandment is non binding on Christians, it is up to you whether you want to set aside 10% or 4% or 20%.
As if someone who put 4% for tithe and 6% for offering will get the curse of God? Or someone who put 8% in the home church and 2% in some other Christian organization, for that matter.
Opinions?
Some churches separate the "offering" into different categories.Originally posted by NOD:1 cor 16 most likely refer to an 1 time giving for the jerusalem church that is in need of $$$.
As for the maintenance fund (tithes), we should call it tithes. becos tithes mean "compulsory 10%" ppl are forced to comply.
if you dun want the ps to eat grass, then we can say it outfront using the term like: church maintenance fund, church holy fund, church bills fund, staff allowance, or any other term.
If the church need the $$ to survive, jus say it plain straight, dun need to hide behind the "Tithes " terms to 'force' ppl to contribute.
CHC menber are Avid in tithing, pls kindly comment , thks
for the actual practice .. I need to ask the Christians.Originally posted by Chin Eng:Some churches separate the "offering" into different categories.
Some churches uses the term offering and tithing similarly.
should be based on gross salary exclude expenses like car, handphone, parking, oversea expenditure.Originally posted by goaler:i give 10% of my gross salary...
so, shld it be 10% of gross or take home salary?
doesn't matter, the way you calculate, its just technicality. Like I had said many times on this matter, doing them with the correct heart attitude towards these matters, be it; tithing, offering, giving, doing good deeds .... etc, is more important.Originally posted by goaler:i give 10% of my gross salary...
