In Asutralia, the night before JP passed away.. i felt an urge to go to church to pray for him at around 2 am. when i went down, the church was closed, but people were congregating outside the church. kneeling down in prayer. one of the most touching moments i've ever experiencedOriginally posted by laurence82:Amazing isnt it

Dunno why .. but seems like Catholics very scared to attend SSPX mass.Originally posted by ben1xy:let's just say that i will have a guilty conscience
Perhaps some other groups need to do that to raise awareness of their existence.Originally posted by shade343:I asked this because I noticed that its usually the christians who go about standing at public places distributing flyers asking people to join their church. I dont see catholics doing that.
didn't Jesus say you can lock yourself in the room and pray also?Originally posted by ben1xy:In Asutralia, the night before JP passed away.. i felt an urge to go to church to pray for him at around 2 am. when i went down, the church was closed, but people were congregating outside the church. kneeling down in prayer. one of the most touching moments i've ever experienced

hmmm...protestants also attacked everyday.....Originally posted by ObiterDicta:Perhaps some other groups need to do that to raise awareness of their existence.
There is no need for Catholics to do that. Everyone knows of the existence of the Catholic Church, since we get attacked in the media almost every day.

haha...u not catholic of coz u not scared!!!Originally posted by Icemoon:Dunno why .. but seems like Catholics very scared to attend SSPX mass.
If this fear continues to persist, how can Vatican ever hope to bring them back into the fold?
For me, attend and partake is different. I won't take their bread and wine. You won't too, I guess.
My personal take is this whole issue is very silly. They committed no heresy, all they did was to continue the old traditions.
Actually, i find nothing wrong with what u just said. If everyone had the same frame of reference, it will be a wonderful thing.Originally posted by Icemoon:Dunno why .. but seems like Catholics very scared to attend SSPX mass.

yupOriginally posted by Icemoon:of Jesus?
I'd disagree. This is not a silly issue from our perspective. It is a matter of ecclesiastical discipline.Originally posted by Icemoon:Dunno why .. but seems like Catholics very scared to attend SSPX mass.

The Society of Saint Pius X professes filial devotion and loyalty to Pope Benedict XVI, the Successor of Saint Peter and the Vicar of Christ.who is the narrow minded party now?
The priests of the SSPX pray for the intentions of the Holy Father and the welfare of the local Ordinary at every Mass they celebrate.
Prayer for the Pope
Oremus pro Pontifice nostro Benedicto. Dominus conservet eum, et vivificet eum, et beatum faciat eum in terra, et non tradat eum in animam inimicorum ejus.

I think old catholics are against "liberal" popes.Originally posted by ObiterDicta:I'd disagree. This is not a silly issue from our perspective. It is a matter of ecclesiastical discipline.
We are not 'scared' to attend SSPX services. We rather choose to obey legitimate authority in this matter.
Personally, I like the Latin Mass very much, but you won't find me going to the SSPX services.
And I am not sure if they committed no heresy. To claim that there had been no validly elected Pope (as some do) and that all the Church teachings after Vatican II is wrong are very serious charges that strike at some of the most fundamental tenets of our faith.

i did the same thing for my grandma 3 yrs back. thks for bringing back those wonderful memoriesOriginally posted by laurence82:My grandma just passed away recently
In the middle of the night, when everyone turned in, my Catholic cousins sat around my grandma's coffin and sang hymns and said prayers for her
I was in the next room, holding back my tears
