I mean dont you even know your son's CCA, the fact that you do not know much about it shows that you are disinterested in his lifestyle, that could be the reason why the boy didnt inform his parents.I have parents like that, when i talk about school they are uninterested. -

kid go for training . never tell parent.
kid go climb mountain next week then tell parent.

if kid want parent to respect them, they must respect the parent also. -
If the kid never tell the parents, the kid is at fault.
If the BB never inform the parents of it being a Christian group in the first place, then it is at fault.
If the parents don't bother asking anything, it is their fault.

If the parent had not ask the child in the very first day that he's against the child from joining BB because it's Christian based, all this wouldn't had happened. It could be a case of miscomunication between the parent and the child, and thus unfair for the Brigade to be blamed. It's set clear always that BB is a Christian Organisation.
To answer someone's enquiry regarding the permission for converting/baptism. The Methodist Church in Singapore requires the parents of a teenager to approved before the baptism is carried out. This is done usually before the start of baptism class. For the next few weeks, the applicant is required to go through religious classes lead by the pastor-in-charge or a ministry staff. Confirmation is needed for 16 and before and that's the confirmation needed even when you are baptised already whether infant/child baptism. All baptism will come with a "Certificate" from the church.
Please do not drive the issue off-course by comparing it to other issues and that will make things complicated. For any further enquries, you can contact the MOE or BB HQ to clarrify and not start a flame war. It's unfair to fellow brothers & sister here as well as assosiates of the Boys' Brigade. -

Nvm its so typical of you adults, when the child wrong the parents all the elders will lambast the child and when the adult does something wrong to the child, the elders will ask the child for forgiveness.I have experienced this myself before.
