I find the mother a little weird, she does not bother about finding out about her son's CCA but want to dash in when he wants to be converted.Rather ironic -
To answer a question posed, Boy Scouts and Girl Guides have no religion affiliation. To add on to what I said before, BB in other schools may operate differently from what I described. But generally, we do not hide the fact that we are a Christian uniformed unit.
I think if the parent had showed concern in the first place, he would have put in effort to find out what BB is about.
I understand that this parent is be concerned that his son is being influenced by a religion he disagrees. But I think there are worse things to be worried about, a teenager can be distracted by many bad influences in school.
A parent must come to understand that they cannot shield or restrict his child to everything that will come to his child. If any of them is concerned enough, then they should be always communicating with their child. They should make effort to be in touch with their child and from there guide them as a parent. A child will become independant someday, but it's part of growing up and not a failure in the parents. -

Because society has been influenced and emasulated subconsciously to such an extent that parents have lost ownership of many issues and rather let school, state or any monolithic group raise their children.Then, once in a while, the parental instincts rear up and they chiong without thinking whether this is their fault or not.Originally posted by Icemoon:no one is blaming you.

For your info, Catholics have a stage in their lifes called "Confirmation" thats when you choose whether you want to be a Catholic or not.Usually the arch-bishop is there and he wont do anything if you say no infront of his face.I do not know if christians have confirmation or not.
But of course before "confirmation" you go through a lot of preparation and many lessons. -
i was a BB Boy. ya...its a christian CCA and everybody knows. the services and christian activities r nv compulsory and the officers will always emphasise tt for eg. during prayer time. non-believers jus need to keep silent and respect the time.

Religon is there to guide us physically and mentally.
i see no harm in young age religon exposure -
