since i got pretty much nothing to do, i shall say some opinions and thoughts of the bus
The Mercedes Benz OC500LE was developed by Mercdes Benz as a successor to the O405 model range. i guess the year was 2003 or 4. then the bus probaly came in EURO II or III formats.
Actually, the OC 500 LE was developed to be sold in conjunction with the Citaro O 530 integral packages. This was to allow operators to select from a third-party bodybuilder if required. It was first launched in Australia in 2003 as a Euro 3-complaint diesel-fuelled bus chassis, with a Euro 4 CNG option (optional Euro 5/EEV). I do believe that having seperate and unrelated integral and non-integral products is bad business practise though.
TP1854
reg: CNg1854 (in Singapore)
Merc OC500LE OH1824LE (note the abuse of a brazillain merc chassis code is always welcomed to reflect the HP of the bus)
18 tonne - 254HP max output
Bodywork - volgren Cr228L
Tanny: ZF6HP592C Eccolite II
Fuel - CNG!!
A couple of corrections:
The correct designation for the CNG chassis is: OC 500 LE 1825hG
Engine: M 447 hLAG (Euro 4/EEV)
Maximum power output is: 185kW (252 PS) @ 2000rpm
Transmission: ZF 6HP 502C (Ecomat 2)
The OC 500 LE chassis is actually very different from the chassis used for the Citaro (although both chassis' share the same engine options). For example, the Citaro O 530 chassis has independant rear suspension whereas the OC 500 LE chassis does not. the OC 500 LE has Mercedes-Benz axles whereas the Citaro has ZF axles. Also, the dash on the Citaro is completely different from the dash on the OC 500 LE.
i enjoyed how the Zf6HP592C gearbox sounded like but din really digg how the way the gearbox lock to slow down the bus. it jerked the bus and the engine reving was uneasy. much like B9TL. nevertheless it was a thrill to ride the bus. the engine sounded a scania mixed with the )405 of the day.
Over the last few years, DaimlerChrysler Asia-Pacific in conjunction with ZF AG have been optimising the gearshift points on the Perth OC 500 LEs, so now they perform very differently compared to how they performed back in 2003/4.
in 2007 or 2008, Mercdes benz revaped the Citaro range. it was at this time i guess the OC500LE was revamped. th revamp took the bus into the EURO V age. one may call this the OC500LE mark 2 if they will. the engine specs were changed.
Again, the New Citaro was developed independantly from the OC 500 LE chassis. The New Citaro mainly featured an exterior facelift, as well as Euro 4-compliant diesel engines (again with a CNG option). The OC 500 LE chassis has remained the same except for the added options of Euro 4/Euro 5/EEV diesel engines.
With all that emmisions reduction and catalytic conversion stuffs, the bus met EURO V. and some say EEV. the ultimate in emission standards today is EEV.
The difference between Euro 5 and EEV is only slight. Carbon monoxide (CO) emissions must be lower than 1.5 g/kWh on the European Transient Cycle (ETC) in order to meet Euro 5 and lower than 1.0 g/kWh to meet EEV. Hydrocarbon emissions must be lower than 0.66 g/kWh to meet Euro 5 and 0.25 g/kWh to meet EEV.
Dave who is from perth told me that the bus tranny shd be the Zf6HP592C 9 a tranny for euro 2 and 3 buses) . i read soemwhere else that the newer EUOR IV and V rnage of Zf tranny cd not be coupled with the bus.

TIB581 got this ad too. but then it is not entirely the same as that new Merc. The last two windows were not covered up at all. The front part is also not covered. Only the middle part is covered with ads (the train).

Pls do remember that theres a LTA ruling with regards to having advertisement on buses. Which may be the reason why theres a difference in the advertisement..

i know that.. That why i have pointed that there is a difference in the bus ad. And i think the ad on the new Merc might be amended before it is on the road.
Just a small question here.
For this bus, is the kneeling function automatic or does the Service Leader activate the function via the dashboard?
Thanks in advance.

Agreed, the only other bus which I can think of having a full body ad was 9611D, a full body Harry Potter ad except for the windscreen, the ad was removed when it returned back to regular service (it did a chartered shuttle).
It's slated to be out tomorrow.. but all seems quiet..
It was out on the papers yesterday. A friend of mine alerted me about it. Well, busspotting madness tomorrow i guess?
hey same thought too when i was coming home today.. hmm..

I think that's more like the article on the lack of drivers and the daily job scope of a bus driver. Nothing on OC500LE.
The new bus is not even registered yet...

Found this line in the press release of SMRT dated 30 April..
"Southeast Asia’s first Euro V bus on the roads on 14 May".
Looks like it's either a surprise.. or a change in plan..
BTW, what is a hub reduction axle?

The EDS is super small just like TIB595H side EDS, but placed on the top just like CAC O405 Merz instead of the bottom like any other OAC O405 Merz... In sv966's photo, you should be able to see the side EDS ba? Else... I shall contribute mine here too...

SMRT only knows how to buy transport uses and never think of drivers lol.Less Bus Driver. A lot of MRT Driver. A Lot of taxi driver .No One wants to be a SMRT Driver when you grow up and you have the chance of this ambition .People rather be ComfortDelgro's Bus driver rather than SMRT.SMRT looks comfortable. SBST's aircon duct is more stronger,so colder although BC Seat not comfortable.I want to drive K230UB when I grow up.
