Imagine every bus stop u have to wait for the stupid closing announcement to finish before the door can close and drive off...
i think bc dun even bother to use them. imagine the bc hearing them on 67 for the whole day. 6 days a week.
imagine next time. for 975. "Next Bus Stop opposite lamppost 160".
about 10 seconds later. "Next Bus Stop after Track 11".
about another 10 seconds later. "Next Bus Stop opposite lampost 173".
then we will have Going to Johor Bahru announcements for Service 178 UDs too.

other than that, we have to wait for the day it's out.
fear the front bumper too.
Bus level should be able to raise.

My guess is the announcements are made only for welcome messages, major transfer stops (or MRT stations) and end of trip (all pax pls alight).

what if pax press bell again. after doors close.
every stop pax board (welcome onboard smrt). every door closing (doors are closing). wont it be annoying.

If SMRT does this for the new merc i bet their engineers are mediore

I just hope that there will be no annoucements at all on a bus. Feels akward and weird.

There already are, KMB has it, though sometimes it can't be heard clearly...
This means if you take MRT or bus, all got annoucements! Let us have peaceful rides on buses!

I would prefer them to have announcements at major stops and at end of trips.
It does helps.

Do note that there was a particular bus which has TIBS announcements till date. It will only depends if the SL knows how to operate.

Is it TIB727U?
I don't get it when people keep saying that this body is a Gemilang copy xxx or a Gemilang copy yyy. "Copy" is a very sensitive word to use and can involve huge lawsuits and lots of money if a company is really found to be infringing on another's copyright designs.
While the SBST K230, MAN 18.240 and this O500LE from SMRT are all bodied by Gemilang, each one of them sport a front design that has been customised in consultation with their respective chassis makers. As a self-respecting company in its own right, Scania, MAN and Mercedes Benz would all want to promote their products, and what better way than to have the local bodywork of the buses designed in accordance to what they have elsewhere. This is part of their brand-building so as to achieve a consistent image in their vehicles sold.
So we see a Gemilang with an Omnicity design requested by Scania for the K230s, one with a Lion City design specified by MAN for the 18.240, and a Citaro-lookalike specified by Mercedes Benz for the O500LE.
"Copy" is just soooo... the wrong word to use in this instance.

TIB 872 H..
Actually the front bodywork look exactly like Mercedes CapaCity, Here is a link to a picture gallery showing Mercedes CapaCity
The width of this new bus looks shorter than any of the buses that I see on the road currently. Or is it just me??

This is what happens in Beijing , for every single stop, there will be such announcements made to announce the arrival of the stop(unless the BC chooses not to press on the button which will play the announcments) and sometimes, the conductor on board some buses will repeat the announcement.

Green interiors were introduced by Tibs. Noticed that all the buses that Tibs bought between 1994-2003 (except those Malaysian Dennis Lances) has green interiors and seats, Habits were slightly different.

Yes, TIB727U used to have this function when it was doing service 167 years ago.

Haha, Tibs is gone, yea, so i used SMRT instead

SMRT said it has bought 66 Euro V buses to replace its old fleet, and the new busses will be rolled out between August and December this year.
It's high time that the Nissan UDs should go 1st. In fact some of them have been deregistered already.
Wonder which buses will replace service 178 after all the Nissans are gone?
SBST has already done its part by replacing Volvo MK2s with Scania K230UBs.

Just see whether SMRT will register the 1st bus as TIB1258A.

If SMRT buys such WAB bendies in future

- Aircon model: Konvekta
- EDS model: LAWO (same as those fitted on TIB 595H, etc)
- Interior configuration: Aircon duct & panelling design follows that of SBST Scania K230, MINUS the eyeball outlets. Outlets are replaced with Habit-style.
- Seating: has 4 more seats over the K230. Centre exit is shifted forward, 4-seater bench-seats in the low-floor area converted to front-facing, slightly tighter legroom in the rear seats allowing for an additional row to be placed in (seven rows instead of six, including the last row)
- 2 wheelchair lots with seat-belts provided (not seen in SBST)
- Manual wheelchair ramp
- 1.5-size "granny" seat above offside wheel arch behind driver (same design as the second batch of K230s)
- Seat colour: mix of Red and Black in the rear (corporate colours), yellowish-green for priority seats in the low floor area
- On board voice annoucement/PA system using computerised voice (Welcome on board SMRT, please move to the rear, etc) or though BC speaking into mic
- The same door closing annoucement used on trains is played as the door closing chime
- Next stop display panel not found to be fitted... at least not yet.
- No driver window, only a small opening to stick out his hand
- Yellow coinbox (still the same old TIBS one), orange Sanyo thermal ticket printers
mannaul flap out style wheelchair ramp. ramp seems flimsy when stepped on. scare is might fall apart. =S
really teenny weeny side EDS n rear EDS, think the sight imparied will never see what bus it is..lol
nice one following hong Kong standard for PIW safety: fitting of seatbelts. nice touch. Safety is always no 1.
bus engine kinda loud for an EURO V bus.
opinion: think meeting EEV is the ultimate goal of bus companies going green in 2008. is our O500LE fitted with the DPF? With DPF is consider EEV leow.
note: DPF buses are common in Seoul.
DPF = Disel puryfying filter.
opinion: avoiding CNG and using Diesel to go EURO V is a great idea. however to point out in if in 2006, if u had purchased a OC500LE in CNG fuel, it would have met EURO V standards. that is 2 years before today. However i also will point out that EURO V bus moels are few to come by with Diesel fuels out on the general bus market so the effort to source out a disel EURO V model is most impressive.
most EURO V buses out on the market involve using really weird alternative fuel sources like hydrogren gas, biofuels or even Electricty.
review: 3 puryfying porcesses to meet EEV!
10 Adblue seems to be an additive based on urea.. aka urine. lol bby ading Adblue n aiming it at the xhaust u reduce carbon . bascially the carbon gets reacted with the nitrogen component in urea and the end product is some nitrogen oxides n water. the carbon compound stuffs will be stuck soemwhere in bus to be removed later. Adblue aims at carbon products unlike other exhaust stuff removers 2 and 3.
2) SCR; Selective Catalytic Converter. i dunno why selective. shd not be selective. shd remove all bad emmisions. must not select some. hahaha
anyhoww this one is the main guy removing most of the crap emmsions we dun want from the bus. mainly if u heard of what catalysts can do u shd know how this works. is fitted into engine and not toward the exhuast pipe area.
with 1 and 2 u meet EURO V, to meet EEV u need number 3
3) DPF: probably a standardised compoent any \bus u cna fit to. commonly found in south korean buses. as the name suggests it purifies the disel exhaust. i regard DPF as a primitive form of a SCR but fitted at xhaust pipes areas.
if aything wrong pls correct the suah ku who is me
lol
