No hope for you who wants to see it. It's no longer there. That is where the Mercedes Benz Service Centre is located. It just went back to WLDEP today.
The first demonstrator is now in service?

WLDEP?

The OC500LEs are staying at WLDEP.
anyway did u see any rego on the bus? when going/returning to/from MB Svc Ctr?

WOOHOOO!
I just hope that WLDEP maintenace is going to be better. And this bus had better not be a depot specialty.....or a service one.

it is still 'SMRT'..
What's with Wiki stating that our OC500LEs are CNG-powered? They are diesel, right?
Info by my friend at AMDEP:1 new MB enter there this morning

Yes, they are just diesel buses with a Euro 4 Engine (without additives), the Euro 5 comes about when they add the urea additive (AdBlue).

Yes and the mechanics aren't experienced with AdBlue or Ad-blue I don't know and it will take a few months for them to familliarise themselves with the bus as it is way different than the other Mercs which are Euro-I and Euro-II

Urm? AdBlue is an additive, not a machine. The technology, Selective Catalytic Reduction (used by Volvo, Mercedes Benz and Cummins and as an option by MAN and Caterpillar) is incorporated into the engine. The only thing the mechanics need to do is to learn how to maintain a new engine, why learn AdBlue when they are not chemical engineers.

Who on earth tell you this?Crap sial!Sometimes i do get fed up with SMRT Tech,All they know is Merc only.
Guys, please stop bickering.
Let me clarify a couple of things. Firstly, AdBlue is a urea additive that is injected into the exhaust gases in an SCR system to neutralise, among other things, nitrogen-oxides (NOx) to allow an engine to undercut Euro 4, Euro 5, and EEV emissions regulations. DaimlerChrysler calls this technology "BlueTec". Mechanics will need to familiarise themselves with the maintenance of the SCR injection system as well as additional OBD fault codes associated with it. Fuellers and/or drivers will also need to familiarise themselves with the refuelling procedure.
Secondly, AdBlue and BlueTec injection is required to meet not only Euro 5 and EEV, but Euro 4 as well, because the base engine without SCR is a Euro 3 engine. If a Mercedes-Benz Euro 5 engine runs out of AdBlue solution, it will drop into what's known as "limp-mode" - power and torque output is dramatically decreased until the AdBlue tank is topped up.
Regards,
Dave
Hmm....and how much does this additive cost? Will the company absorb the cost or will it be passed down to commuters? Fuel prices have gone up, bus fares is very likely to go up too? Will it be soon enough to hold the new buses until the fares are increased?
Because the SCR system reduces NOx emissions to levels well below the level set by Euro 5/EEV, it is now possible to allow to engine to perform to its maximum potential. Euro 5/EEV engines with SCR do not require power and torque derating to obtain good emissions performance and are therefore more efficient and economical. The AdBlue injection quantity is approximately 8-10% of diesel consumption (e.g. you will use 4.5L of AdBlue if you use 45L of diesel per 100km), but diesel consumption is decreased also by about 10% in comparison to Euro 3 engines. At this point in time, AdBlue costs approximately 2/3 of the price of diesel per litre. This means that operating a Euro 5 bus will cost about the same as operating a Euro 3 bus without EGR or SCR.
Regards,
Dave
Thanks for the insight, Dave.
