Singaporeans (ok lah, and PRs too), who doesn’t love watching Word Cup football? Fine, who doesn’t love watching FREE World Cup football? Well as long as we’re here we’re not going to because the government has again given cable operators a free hand to fleece us.
Senior Minister of State for Information and Communication Lawrence Wong says the Singapore government has no say in the prices of subscription for World Cup matches. He added that the footballing powers that be will decide on the sum we have to pay.
Well take a look at this and decide if the Singapore government is trying to pull the wool over our eyes with that whole “no say” shenanigan.
Singapore | $112 for all games |
Indonesia | FREE |
India | FREE |
China | FREE |
Japan | FREE |
South Korea | FREE |
Philippines | FREE |
Thailand | FREE |
Cambodia | FREE |
Australia | FREE |
Vietnam | FREE |
Has it sunk in that in Asia we’re one of the very few countries that have to pay to watch the World Cup? Citizens of most other Asian countries get to watch it free on state media TV channels (there’s at least something state media is good for).
Malaysians pay around $40, and Hong Kongers pay about $30, compared to what Singaporeans pay – $112.
As for the part about how we’ve to Pay and Pay because of our purchasing power – well Lawrence, Japan is the third richest country in the world. Where is Singapore in the big picture of things?
Wayang also must wayang ho say lah Lawrence. Otherwise the one who pai say will be you.So don’t anyhow the government has no say, if it doesn’t want to do anything to help Singaporeans enjoy the biggest sporting event in the world for this year.
Do u all want a "govt" who are businessmen who cares only for profit making profiteering continue to run the country? If not, in 2016 vote them out.
People, they will keep increasing $$$ for their insatiable greed to make us pay more and more as long as they continue to run the country.
Don't watch football.
watch news.
Kopi Tiam also can't afford to show now.
Then go pub to watch lor.
you know what our govt will sing after reading your post;
" OLE...OLE OLE OLE.. OLE OLE..."
Just go to a coffee shop or pub to watch. No need to subscribe to world cup.
Maybe Noose 7 will spoof worldcup hehe
Stay at home watch news lah.
