Opposition figure Nicole Seah, who contested in the 2011 General Election, will move to Thailand to further her advertising career.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday night, the 27-year-old said she remained a member of the National Solidarity Party and its Central Executive Committee, and pledged to return for the next election, widely expected to be called in 2016.
She said the decision to relocate was difficult, but listed Asean's diversity as one of several pull factors.
"Thailand is a much larger country than Singapore, and the larger scale of work, managerial duties and budgets involved will be training for the challenges of public service," she wrote.
having to be stationed overseas is a venture for a new life, a challenge for a family (she hasn't started one for her own yet), a price to pay for pursuing a career.
Will she have the time to build the ground or just like many politicians who appear only during election? Please don't talk about coming back to stand for election. Managerial duties involving Thai is quite different from managing Singaporean.
Lets hope she keep in touch with Singaporean affairs as a Singaporean which is very different from a FT or expat in Thailand. More importantly, be relevant to Singapore, we don't want any kind of Thai politics in Singapore, whether you are red, yellow, blue, white, or black.
I wish her all the best in her career.
if she is overseas, how to be in touch with the ground in SG?
tt is wat ppl will shoot at her when she come out in next elections
Then what about the people at the top making millions of dollars?

what about them? actually who are you talking about? most people at the top all make millions of dollars, or those making millions of dollars are always at the top, you know any people make millions of dollars at the bottom?
She sure is smart....come back Singapore and see whether got chance become MP and collects high salary each month in the event she is lucky enough to get elected....no wonder some of my friends call opposition supporters retards...zZzz
if not, there is always something to fall back on

Party $$$ and personal $$$ is different...
Though I'm quite sure most opposition do donate some of their personal money for party fund...

True....party $ is different from personal $
well then the natural question to follow would be which party has more funds
http://singaporeelection.blogspot.com.au/2011/04/opposition-parties-need-your-donations.html
its an old link....result of a google search although I already had an inclination as to the result
well we can see that opposition actively campaigns for donations.... lack of funds would probably be a possibility
Now then we also have to look at the other side of the coin....maybe the PAP candidates have the same issue.
http://www.singapore-window.org/sw99/90605cst.htm
"Although I am the elected MP at Potong Pasir I also feel the presence of the PAP in my constituency. I do not monopolise everything there...blah blah blah... a CDC is formed there and Andy Gan, the PAP prospective candidate is appointed its chairman. The CDC is equipped with funds. Andy Gan the prospective candidate at Potong Pasir as chairman of the CDC visits householders at Potong Pasir and hands out money when the head of the household is out of job for at least one month."
quoted from Chiam See Tong's link.....I have filtered out his views which might come across as bias but I have left his claims intact.
So to summarize.....yes I agree with your post "Though I'm quite sure most opposition do donate some of their personal money for party fund..."
Doesn't mean that the opposition will be better/or worse at doing the job as a MP...but it just puts into perspective that a possible reason she wants to advance her career (for money) .....besides being a natural thing to do is simply because contesting in elections costs money.
