This issue is the main debate in our elitism society..
Does a scholars really makes a good politician ( which makes sound policies that benefit the society(economically) and people (socially) ??
Sigh, even their youngest candidate is family-related.
The answer is obvious look at the pappies.
We need people with passion and commitment to give their best to serve the people regardless if they are scholars or not.
Then who you want to be your politician?
Dun you guys wanna see the future of singapore to be filled with more real solid politician & not just booksmart scholars that are pushed to be politician as a career (big iron rice-bowl)..
you can really see the difference between politician in the initial stage of SG building & the politician now.... ( maybe sg in a better position now)
In my opinion, a good politician should be able to relate both the people at the TOP(upper class) and the people at the bottom (middle/lower class)..& not everything is about GDP ignoring people's view , some even discouraging people to not study uni because they may not find good job (WTH)??

The poor-rich gap is widening. I don't want to live in a society similar to India- where the rich live in glass-metal skyscrapers while the poor live in slums with no access to water.

In the case of spore, same feathers attract same feathers, elitism, cronyism and nepotism all exist.

Wrong, we dun LL ve 2 use scholar, its MIW who thinks that scholars are the ones that produce the results...
They produce the results by wiping out old SG in the name of progress...
Look at Marine Cove where MAC used to be... the tenants were not able to extend their lease, if you go past ECP, it is there collecting dust rather than collecting rent for the state...
There are many people who wants to serve but could not enter civil/admin svc due to their not so stellar grades... PSC knows that and whether they can correct this, its another story...
Scholars enter CS just to serve their bond and get promoted(assuming they wan to stay on) by coming out with policies that have major ADVERSE impact on the lives of Singaporeans... Health insurance/co-payment is highlighted by ST for the pass few weeks, yet MOH keep quiet
"Scholars enter CS just to serve their bond and get promoted"
This is very true, and if they don't get promoted they just left. Government really have to scrutinize the scholarships applicants, cannot just look at grades.

Prove it.
Still dare kick me some more.
Ouch.
There is no such thing as a good politician. One man's meat is another's poison.
