Just because you speak like us, live among us..doesn't make you Singaporean. Thank you for trying anyway.
as a Singaporean, I have the right to be proud of my country, and the right to say it out. surely I don't take lesson from a ranting little girl. Who is lecturing who?

Everybody is entitled to his or her opinion in Singapore, but if you start to make uncalled for remarks, criticism about others, they have the right to response.
Read my posts, I never responded to the remarks by the little girl. Nothing in her or about her arouse me...you know her so well, you related to her?
"hahaha...you are right, let it go. don't let your hatred scotch your mind, your displeasure blind your eyes. You have found a place you like, stay there."
Good. I am glad you realised that .
She proud or not proud is her own business.
You proud or not proud is your own business.
Criticising her will not change her mind about what/how she feels. Perhaps she had to deal with a lot of unhappy experiences as an artist. The path to stardom is never easy and she is only 21.
And no I am not related to her. Her side of story was published not long ago. Frankly, the little girl version is more believable than that crazy aunt's version.

A lot of immigrants from China and India also are "Singaporean".

hahaha.... yes, you stay where you are, and I stay where I am, in Singapore.
Be proud of who you are and where you live, and if you still call yourself a Singaporean, don't let a small 黄毛丫头 give you lessons on how you ought to behave.
have a good day.
Her two proud neh nehs are lecturing you.

if you are proud of that, you haven't seen any yet.
have some respect for your gender, that shouldn't be the thing you should be proud of.

Because we feel it's a personal attack on the person - Steph. She retaliated with her own personal attack too i believe.
Originally posted by sgdiehard:some find interest in her accent, others thinks she got guts to speak, many saw exactly what she wanted to show, her cleavage!
You watched the video....didn't take notice of the points she made and you are telling me that the whole video....she wanted to show her cleavage?
Is it possible you were only watching the cleavage?

Yes I know you have pride in yourself.....hokay noted. I also know you have dignity....also noted.
You have pride in your country because this is what you cherish....good noted.
You also need to explain "Why". I'll be more detailed. "Why do you think the points made by Steph are invalid...cite examples. Then explain why you are proud."
I'll give you an example of why you can be proud of Singapore. Singapore is a relatively safe country to live in.
edit:- The keyword is "why". I have pride in my country because this is what I cherish....how about I have pride in my school because I studied there... "why"

Can I also say that Steph as a Singaporean have the right not to be proud of her country, and the right to say it out? surely she don't take lesson from ranting diehards?
At least she gave reasons why right?

I give you another possibility.........Why switch off?
A. Because you cannot take her criticism and think subjectively? Blind Pride or "Pinoy Pride" (first i've heard of this)
B. Or is it really because of neh neh
That is what jojo is hinting at. Multiple choice question.
@sgdiehard
I think the point (and i could be wrong) that jojo is trying to bring across is to be subjective.
It isn't a case of "staying in Singapore should be proud of Singapore."
Singapore has points it should be proud of. However it does have points it is lacking. This is of course all a matter of opinion. However it becomes apparent that some will defend the country just for the sake of it.
Don't waste my time, genie, anybody has the right to view their opinions, and others have the right to disagree, what the little girl feels is up to her and I didn't even try to dispute that, I just said "I am proud of my Singlish, ...Singapore is not perfect...what is good for some may be bad for others...".Do I have the right to say that?
What I like is what I like, call it subjective if you like. If I say this orange is sweet, don't ask me to explain why. You don't like it just leave it, stay where you are.

of course you can take lesson from "Her two proud neh nehs". Happy learning!

If you really feel what she says is up to her....then no need for "small 黄毛丫头" right.
Yes ....yes I can take lesson from her neh nehs. You happy can le.

Yes.....and no one is refuting you about that right?
All your posts is about "I am proud to be Singaporean" "I have dignity" "I have pride".
Why?.....if you feel strongly against her criticism....Why?
oh I know .....you happy you stay ....you not happy you leave?
Try and make it better? No.......you not happy you leave. You understand why I use the term blind pride?
Originally posted by sgdiehard:Don't waste my time, genie,
Yes you come in here say you are proud....why dunno....because you cherish.
Sorry I waste your time. Your time most precious.
Cross the road make sure watch both sides.... blind pride is ok....cross road cannot blind.

Why u like the orange ?
Because the orange is SWEET.
Unker u not very smart.
You the one wasting our time with your thoughtless replies.
We fix what is broken. Not just throw it away.
You left your birth country because you didn't like it there. So you came here to our country. And that's what you've been driving at. If u no like you go. If u like u stay. Because that's exactly what you did.
You gave up on your birth country because there's no HOPE. That's why you stopped whining, you packed and left.
We Singaporeans are a very HOPEFUL bunch, looking forward to a better future in our homeland. Pride ? not so much, HOPE, yes. Because we can.
Singapore has changed so much within the last 10 years. Can she be better , of course she can. We believe in a better future in SG... so your "not happy leave" mantra.. I suggest that you simply SOCK IT.

haha, you packed and left, but have not stopped whining, you hopeful of what? with you as model for all Singaporean? Singapore as a nation we have progress, Singaporean as a people, we have grown, but may not be the way you like, too bad, that you have to simply SOCK IT.
Honey attracts the Bees, Flowers attract the Butterflies, Where the flies and mosquito go? There is a place for everyone, Singapore is a place for me. You go where you want to go, don't say Singapore chase you away.

Well unlike you sir. I am a Singaporean. I never abandoned my birth country like you did to yours. My passport is still Singapore, my birth country is Singapore.
No one chased me away.. I come and go as I please. And I call many places my home.
So you really have no place telling us about being proud of our country. You turned your back on yours.
Again.. sir.. you really need to sock it.

ah...you have that bumiputra mentality...born of a royal family doesn't make you a queen....and if you think you are, that is when they need to sing "God saves the queen".
birth country simply means you were born here, nothing else. What does this country mean to you if you do not contribute to it and you are not proud of it. you just took advantage of the convenience of the land, and when you got feather you just spread your wing and enjoy the freedom.
You pay income tax in the country you stay but try to tell your birth country how to look after the poor and the old. You don't serve NS and stay in a big country to avoid trouble in the little red dot, and you tell us how to run our lives. Obviously being so far away you can't join any community services to help the underpriviledged, but you think your loud voice would do wonder. don't be a hypocrite....
holding to Singapore passport just because you may need to come here when it gets tougher there. Now you PR where you stay because find comfort there, just like the PR in Singapore, and you think you are on moral high ground.
you proud of Singapore?
