Just curious and from public sources only.
How many Chinooks did the RSAF have? And how many is based in SGP? Are there still Chinooks based in the US?
There is 6 in Sumatra and 2 in Thailand but recently recalled back to SGP. So a Total of 8.
Or was there actually a total of 6 deployed as the additional 2 chinooks to Sumatra is actually the 2 that is recalled from Thailand.

I thought one of the ST journalists mentioned it was a fleet of 10, out of which 6 are presently sent to Indonesia?
I recall reading somewhere that, to form the 127 Squadron, we brought back 6 Chinooks from Grand Prairie (Texas) & then acquired 4 more.
Conversely, Tim Huxley said in his book that we made 3 sets of orders in the '90s, for a total of 16 Chinooks. The purported goal is supposedly at least 20 to meet our RDF needs.

I am an ex-NSF and a current NSmen. As is many of the people here....
However I make it a point that whatever I discuss is from public forum. Actually with my low rank, there is actually very little that I know from the active service!
I am just thinking whether the SAF is stretching itself by deploying 3 out of 4 LST overseas and a high percentage of available units....
Also I would think that the CHinooks with its twin large rotors would consume a lot of fuel. I wonder who is refuelling the helis?
The LST can store so much av-gas???

i read somewhere that they have Mi-24s.RMAF has Mi-17 "Hip" heavy lift helicopters.
Mi-24 refers to the "Hind" helicopter gunships,
while capable of carrying a small group of infantry/commandos, the extra weight degrades the aircraft's gunship capability. Indonesia has Hinds, but don't count on Hinds ever doing transport work.
